New Nokia Phones Designed to Keep Busy Households Connected

Feb. 11 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- In a move sure to please time-crunched families everywhere, Nokia today revealed the new basic-category Nokia 2220 and 2260 phones. These compact TDMA handsets deliver modern styling and a wide range of the most-wanted features at a price point that makes multiple phone ownership affordable. The single band Nokia 2220 phone (TDMA 800MHz/AMPS) and the dual-band Nokia 2260 phone (TDMA 800/1900MHz/AMPS) are expected to begin shipping during the 2nd quarter of 2003.

Features like a built-in vibrating alert, two-way text messaging, over- the-air business card exchange and a phonebook with capacity for 200 entries will satisfy the demands of the most experienced mobile phone users, while downloadable ring tone capability, picture messaging and optional user changeable Xpress-on color covers in bright blue, gray, red and light blue make the Nokia 2220 and 2260 phones the perfect canvas for users wanting to express their individuality. All customers will enjoy using the high- visibility blue backlight and built-in e-mail functionality for keeping in touch with the office or just dropping a note to friends and family.

"The Nokia 2220 and 2260 phones make it possible for individuals to get all of the features of a modern mobile phone, or for an entire family to realize the benefits of staying in touch wirelessly," said Pekka Vartiainen, senior vice president and general manager of Nokia Mobile Phones, Americas. "First-time users will quickly become wireless experts thanks to the easy-to- use Nokia user interface, while more experienced users will be able to evolve their mobile lives beyond voice with text messaging and e-mail support."

Other family friendly features of the Nokia 2220 and 2260 phones include three built-in games designed to help time pass on long family trips and a time stamped call log so that the time that mom, dad, sister, brother or any other important person called can be easily found, even if the call was missed.

Note: Features are dependent on network. These devices have not been authorized as required by the rules of the Federal Communications Commission. These devices are not, and may not be, offered for sale or lease, or sold or leased, in the United States until authorization is obtained. Nokia intends to obtain FCC authorization prior to commercial launch of these devices.
