New Maytag Freezers Conserve Energy and Money

March 4 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- The Home Depot, the world's largest home improvement retailer, is bringing the latest energy-saving technology to its appliance portfolio with the exclusive home center channel distribution of Maytag's new line of chest and upright freezers. The Maytag freezers meet all ENERGY STAR guidelines and exceed U.S. Department of Energy standards for 2004 by 15 percent.

The new Maytag freezers will be available at all Home Depot locations beginning this month, with prices ranging from $299-$499, depending on features and size. The freezers range in capacity from 14.8 cubic feet to 19.6 cubic feet. In addition to helping reduce energy bills, the new freezers feature conveniences like extra large capacity and storage baskets that can be moved or removed.

The Maytag freezer line is the newest addition to Home Depot's selection of energy efficient major appliances. The Home Depot, the nation's third largest appliance retailer, now offers more than 245 appliances that meet or exceed ENERGY STAR guidelines.

"Home Depot is the destination for energy-saving solutions for the home," said Bob Baird, The Home Depot's global product merchant -- appliances. "The new Maytag freezers strengthen Home Depot's assortment of appliances that help customers save money on energy costs."

Kitchen and laundry appliances account for more than 20 percent of the energy used in a typical home, according to Baird. Replacing old appliances with new, ENERGY STAR qualified appliances can reduce appliance energy usage by up to 50 percent.
