New Hybrid Flat Panel Monitor Offers Flexibility to Move from Analog to Digital

IBM just announced a new hybrid 18-inch flat panel monitor that offers customers the versatility to process both analog and digital signals. With hybrid monitors, customers such as financial analysts can make the move from analog to digital output without having to purchase a new monitor, thereby extending the life cycle of their flat panel monitor.
A digital signal takes the data directly from the computer and displays it, pixel-for-pixel, on a digital flat panel monitor, creating flicker-free images with extraordinary color, clarity and crispness. With analog connections, the digital information in the computer is converted into analog signals and sent to the monitor for display.

In addition, IBM announced that it is lowering the price of its popular T55 analog flat panel monitor to $789, making it the company's lowest-priced flat panel monitor ever.

IBM's T84H monitor, the latest in IBM's line of hybrid analog/digital monitors, also features advanced image scaling capabilities as well as the ability to connect analog and digital inputs at the same time, which is ideal for data-intensive users like financial analysts who display applications on multiple monitors. Like all IBM flat panel monitors, it utilizes one third the energy and produces less heat than a standard cathode ray tube (CRT) monitor, allowing companies to save money on energy and cooling costs.

"With IBM's hybrid monitors, customers can access analog formats today and move to digital formats tomorrow, without having to upgrade," said Doug Jamison, Worldwide Brand Manager for IBM Monitors. "Hybrid monitors also allow customers to benefit from the flexibility and quality of digital signals while remaining compatible with legacy analog components."

IBM is also announcing a low-priced 19-inch (18.0-inch viewable image size) cathode ray tube (CRT) monitor that is ideal for viewing multiple windows simultaneously. The E94 Monitor is well-suited for text editing and spreadsheets. Like all IBM E Series Monitors, the E94 is designed to deliver high quality and reliability at an exceptional price.
