New German Medium Format Camera

September 2002 -- The city of Wetzlar has long been a synonym for fine precision, highly valued cameras and optical instruments- most famously Leica. Now a high quality medium format camera has joined the illustrious list of products 'Made in Wetzlar': the WICA. Designed and developed by a team of technicians, backed by years of practical experience, the WICA is a small wide-angled shift-camera optimised for architectural, industrial and landscape photography.

Central feature of the WICA design is the easy to operate 'Orbital Shift' lens that can be moved on its optical axis to adjust perspective distortion in both the vertical and horizontal planes, as well as the diagonal. The high precision, extra-large bayonet lens attachment allowed the designers to use the full potential of the excellent Schneider-Kreuznach XL-wide angle 38, 47 and 58 mm lenses. The viewfinder can be tilted to adjust image parallax.

An optional ergonomically designed handgrip includes an integrated shutter release button, enabling the camera to be operated freehand, even while using the 'shift' feature. The camera's rear part takes Mamiya and Polaroid film magazines, as well as conventional ground-glass screen attachments. Naturally, it will also accept professional digital imaging units.
