March 12, 2003 -- UMAX Technologies, Inc. today announced the AstraPix 490 for digital imaging and multimedia enthusiasts. The 1.3 megapixel multimedia-rich AstraPix 490 is PC and Mac compatible and is available now with a special introductory price of $99 (standard MSRP is $149) at www.umax.com.

Designed for both up-and-coming and intermediate digital photographers, the AstraPix 490 combines the ability to capture high-resolution still pictures, 320 x 240 video with up to 30 fps, expandable memory via an compact flash card slot, high quality audio recording and MP3 playback.

The AstraPix 490 also includes advanced features allowing photographers to customize their shots. Users can choose between manual and auto exposure from -3EV to +3EV in 1EV steps and auto and manual white balance from cloudy, daylight, tungsten and fluorescent. The camera offers a focal length of F3.2, 9.2mm with a focus range of 0.9 ~ infinity. To ensure that the photographer can also take part in the excitement, the AstraPix 490 also includes a 10 second self-timer.
