NEC-Mitsubishi Electronics Display Introduces New NEC MultiSync LCD1830Aggressively Priced 18-Inch Flat Panel Monitor Provides Corporate Environments With Energy Savings and an Excellent Return on Investment ITASCA, Ill., Feb. 1 -- NEC-Mitsubishi Electronics Display of America Inc, today announced the new 18-inch flat-panel NEC MultiSync(R) LCD1830 monitor. With an estimated street price of just $1,899, the NEC MultiSync LCD1830 is designed to deliver the benefits and luxury of a large screen flat-panel display, without the hefty price tag, to mainstream corporate environments. "The NEC brand is recognized as the worldwide brand leader for all LCD monitor shipments," said Chris Connery, product line manager, NEC-Mitsubishi Electronics Display of America, Inc. "The NEC MultiSync LCD1830 offers the most aggressively priced 18-inch flat-panel monitor from NEC-Mitsubishi, and we expect that this, combined with our reputation for high quality and sophisticated display technology, will appeal to an even wider audience." With an 18.1-inch viewable image area and native 1280 x 1024 SXGA resolution, NEC-Mitsubishi Electronics Display's newest addition offers all the benefits of an LCD monitor -- including low heat and radiation emissions, reduced power consumption and improved resolution. Weighing only 18.7 pounds and measuring 8.5-inches deep with the stand, the NEC MultiSync LCD1830 provides a larger viewing experience, while conserving desk space. Exceptional Total Cost of Ownership NEC-Mitsubishi Electronics Display continues to emphasize the importance of total cost of ownership (TCO), especially given the increasing need for greater energy conservation efforts. Not only does the NEC MultiSync LCD1830 offer an excellent return on investment, it uses significantly less power and saves on cooling costs. As well, NEC-Mitsubishi Electronics Display's TCO matrix shows that, depending on the current energy rates, LCD monitors can be up to three times less expensive to operate than CRT monitors. Even when the NEC MultiSync LCD1830 is running at full power, it consumes only 49 watts of power, compared to the 140 Watts that are consumed by a typical 19-inch CRT monitor with an 18-inch viewable image area. NEC-Mitsubishi Electronics Display has developed a TCO matrix, available at http://www.necmitsubishi.com/markets-solutions/tco/tco.cfm that outlines the various costs associated with operating any of its award-winning monitors. "With less cooling costs and an overall reduction in energy provisions, the NEC MultiSync LCD1830 will provide long-term solutions to conserving in-house power supplies while offering a lower total cost of ownership," said Todd Fender, product manager, NEC-Mitsubishi Electronics Display of America. The NEC MultiSync LCD1830 incorporates advanced features to ensure that professionals enjoy advantages usually available in high-end models, such as Mitsubishi's new Color Algorithm Technology, which allows professionals to control and adjust a single color without affecting the hues of other colors. Mitsubishi's Color Algorithm Technology supports the international sRGB color reproduction standard, advocated by predominant companies in the industry including Microsoft and Hewlett Packard. The new standard outlines the foundations for a clearly defined, uniform and rich color environment to ensure that colors remain true. With this technology, the NEC MultiSync LCD1830 enhances professionals' viewing experiences by preserving the screen's white balance and allowing users to independently control red, green, blue, cyan, magenta and yellow. The monitor's ability to perform 6-axis color control is the first in the LCD monitor industry, and has already been heralded as a great leap in flat panel monitor technology. The NEC MultiSync LCD1830 is also equipped with NEC's award-winning XtraView(R) Technology to enable an ultra-wide viewing angle of 160 degrees left-to-right and up-and-down, 80 degrees from the center. Multiple users can now view images, without having to sit directly in front of the screen. In addition, users can enjoy a greater out-of-box experience through a new no-touch auto adjust feature that will automatically adjust the NEC MultiSync LCD1830's OSM(TM) (On-Screen Manager) settings to display the best possible image upon initial set-up. Shipping and Availability The NEC MultiSync LCD1830 black cabinet is immediately available through NEC-Mitsubishi Electronics Display's normal channels of distribution. The NEC MultiSync LCD1830 white cabinet will be available in the coming months. NEC's MultiSync LCD Series monitors continue to set the standard for quality and reliability and are covered by a competitive three-year limited warranty on parts, labor and backlight.
