NEC Introduces Sub-Five Pound LCD-Based Projector Featuring DVI-I Interface
New 'Go! Series' Projector Gives Mobile Presenters Compatibility With Emerging Technology and Protection Against Obsolescence
April 16 -- NEC Technologies, Inc. today introduced the LT156, the industry's first sub-five pound LCD-based projector to feature a DVI-I interface. The latest in NEC's "Go! Series" of microportable projectors, The LT156 includes all of the features of NEC's award-winning LT155 model while upgrading the analog input to a DVI-I input, which enables the transmission of both analog and digital signals. This gives users a projector that is not only compatible with the analog outputs featured on laptops today, but also with future generations of laptops that may feature digital outputs.
Many experts believe that in the next few years, the digital connection standard will become more prevalent in monitors, projectors and PCs. This is due to the improved image quality inherent in a digital to digital connection as compared to an analog connection, and to the fact that fewer components are needed to build a digital-to-digital connection, resulting in simpler construction and lower costs.
"The LT156's DVI-I interface with included 15 pin to DVI-I adapter arms mobile presenters with protection against obsolescence," said Bob Guentner, product marketing manager for Visual Systems at NEC Technologies. "LT156 users can rest easy knowing that their projector is not only compatible with the analog outputs of today's laptops but also with the digital outputs that may be incorporated in the laptops of the future."
The LT156 features 1200 ANSI lumens of brightness as well as XGA native resolution, stunning data and video image display and true portability without the need for a laptop, all in a package lighter than most notebook computers at 4.9 pounds.
By introducing a product with a DVI-I input, NEC Technologies further solidifies its position as the only manufacturer with the vision to provide a solution for virtually any display need. NEC Technologies is already the only company in the industry to offer users both LCD- and DLP-based projectors weighing less than five pounds.
Feature-Rich And Ready To "Go!"
NEC Technologies incorporates a host of features into the LT156 to make it the ideal product for mobile presenters, including:
- AutoSense Technology, which automatically synchronizes the LT156 with the source computer, so the user needs only to focus to display a great image.
- Advanced AccuBlend Intelligent Pixel Blending Technology to enable the display of accurate and detailed images from non-native resolution computers (VGA-UXGA).
- VORTEX Technology, which provides data and graphic displays with superior uniformity, color and contrast, and video displays with greater depth, detail, brighter whites and more realistic colors.
- Eco-Mode technology, a selectable option that allows users to reduce the projector's light output by 20 percent, resulting in a doubling of usable lamp life and decreased lamp replacement costs throughout the projector's life.
- A built-in Presentation Viewer that enables users to download presentations onto a CompactFlash, removing both the need for a laptop and the traditional boot-up time associated with a laptop's use.
The LT156 also ships with a full-function presentation remote with laser pointer, a soft case that can accommodate a projector and laptop, and a USB input that gives users the option of connecting a USB mouse to operate the menu system and make onscreen Chalkboard annotations during a presentation.
Complete Service and Support Program
The LT156 is backed by NEC Technologies' industry-leading service programs. Two years of InstaCare coverage comes standard with the projector in addition to the three-year limited parts and labor warranty. InstaCare Xpress provides customers with a "next available flight" replacement option (fees and airline restrictions may apply). And TravelCare offers repair and return service or the use of a temporary loaner projector (at a nominal fee) while traveling outside of the United States and Canada.

The LT156 projector is available now through the NEC Technologies nationwide network of professional channel partners. The Estimated Street Price (ESP) of the LT156 is $4,795. For more information about the LT156, call 1-877-NEC-EDIT or visit the NEC Technologies web site at http://go.nectech.com.
