July 26, 2004 -- Malaysia Airlines has announced that it will begin service to Kuala Lumpur (KUL) from Newark (EWR) via Stockholm (ARN) effective November 4, 2004. Presently, the airline provides service to Kuala Lumpur from EWR via Dubai three times per week. The new Stockholm route will replace that service, maintaining three flights per week. On Mondays and Thursdays the flight will depart EWR at 10:45 p.m. and at 9:40 p.m. on Saturday. Arrival at ARN is 12:25 p.m. and 11:20 a.m. (respectively) the following day. Passengers can layover in Stockholm or continue on the same day for a 12-hour 15-minute flight to KUL.
"This new routing allows us to connect the Eastern Seaboard to Southeast Asia via Europe," explained Vladimir Velasco, marketing director. "We currently offer service to Kuala Lumpur from 15 European cities. Travelers will now have the option to stopover in Europe on their way to and from Asia."
A three-class configured Boeing 777-200 Super Ranger" aircraft with 12 first class, 33 business and 233 economy class seats will be providing a total capacity of 834 seats per week per direction.
