Make Ordinary Digital Photos Shine with VicMan Software’s New Light Artist

December 2004 --VicMan Software announces the release of its new Light Artist software. Light Artist allows users to quickly and easily create realistic lighting effects by adding and modifying light sources and changing the surface qualities of digital photos. Now users will never have to discard another photo for being too light, too dark, or just too ordinary!

Light Artist allows both amateur and professional digital photographers to modify light color in photos, as well as add or change multiple light sources, change surface qualities and add various ambient lighting effects. By using a texture channel, 3-D relief can also be added to images.

Once a digital photo is open in Light Artist, users can experiment with easy-to-use scales that allow manipulation of up to three different types of light sources and two surface reflective characteristics. All changes are viewed in a preview window as they are made.

Light Artist features include:

  • Add up to three different types of light sources – spot, omni and parallel
  • Change altitude, intensity and divergence of light sources
  • Light sources can be moved and their shapes changed manually
  • Change levels of ambient light
  • Use the color palette to change light colors
  • Manipulate surface reflective characteristics – diffuse and specular – to soften or reflect light
  • Use three different color texture channels to change 3-D relief
