Machu Piccu Pueblo Hotel Unveils Renovated Cafe Inkaterra

December 2004- Inkaterra’s Machu Picchu Pueblo Hotel, considered one of Latin America’s top ten hotels, this month unveiled an all-new “Café Inkaterra.” The café, adjacent to the lush gardens and orchards of the 83-room luxury hotel, stands in a prized position in the village of Aguas Calientes, overlooking the Andes’ scenic Vilcanota River. The hotel is twenty minutes from one of the modern wonders of the world, the Inca ruins of Machu Picchu, discovered in 1911 by American explorer, Hiram Bingham.

Inkaterra is Peru’s leading eco-tourism and sustainable tourism company, owning and operating both the Machu Picchu Pueblo Hotel and Reserva Amazonica in Tambopata Province. Café Inkaterra’s design and cuisine reflects centuries of Peruvian and Inca tradition, as well as more modern influences inspired by chef, Coque Ossio. From outside, the café’s thatched roofs, whitewash walls and wooden window frames evoke an Amazon village. Inside, a serene atmosphere reigns, creating a delightful and tranquil retreat perfect for a delicious lunch.

The Cafe Reflects the Music
The opening of the Machu Picchu Pueblo Hotel’s renovated Café Inkaterra coincides with the success scored by a music CD issued in 2004 in Peru with the title, Café Inkaterra. Evoking mega-hit CD’s such as “Buddha Bar,” Café Inkaterra features contemporary interpretations of traditional Peruvian music produced by noted Peruvian musician, Miki Gonzalez. Inkaterra’s work with Gonzalez began in 2001 with the production of the first “Andean Chill” CD – the musician’s initial project designed to reinvigorate ancient melodies with 21st-century techniques. Café Inkaterra captures the rhythms, sounds and instruments of the Andes and the Amazon – combining the sound of native musicians’ ancestral instruments with electronic techniques. In less than three months the Café Inkaterra CD reached the number one spot in sales in Peru, and international distribution is now being planned.

Inkaterra is Peruvian-owned, with more than 29 years of experience in sustainable tourism. Its goal is to preserve Peru’s natural resources, culture and customs and share them to the world.
