Logitech's Latest Trackball Marries Beauty with Advanced Functionality
June 25 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- Logitech today announced it is adding another novel design to its popular optical trackball line. Cordless Optical TrackMan is the first finger operated trackball that features both optical and cordless technology. It will be available worldwide in late July for a list price of $69.95.
The "space-age" design of Cordless Optical TrackMan is complemented by time-tested Logitech technologies -- Logitech's patented optical Marble technology for smooth cursor movement and 27 MHz cordless digital radio technology for reliable cordless freedom. The product offers new advanced navigation features in a comfortable finger-operated, form-fitting, right- handed design. It features special drag-lock functions to move text and images with ease and introduces Cruise Control scrolling, which allows the user to scroll rapidly through web pages and documents by just depressing a button. With conveniently located thumb-operated forward and back buttons, users can navigate easily through applications and web pages without having to move the cursor to the browser's onscreen buttons. As with all of Logitech's pointing devices, the buttons can be programmed to the user's preference. The product's metallic silver surface is highlighted with a black soft-touch paint that brings out the high-end design features of this innovative pointing device.
"Cordless Optical TrackMan is an excellent example of the great design, reliable quality and technological excellence that consumers have come to expect from Logitech," said Chris Bull, director of marketing for Logitech's pointing devices. "Trackball users are a demanding group -- but we believe we've exceeded their expectations with Cordless Optical TrackMan."
Logitech is the leader in the manufacture of cordless pointing devices with over 25 million cordless devices sold to date. In addition, the company has long been an innovator in the area of trackball technology, from the invention of the first optical trackball, TrackMan Marble, in 1995. Due to the immediate popularity of Marble optical sensing technology, TrackMan Marble quickly established Logitech as a market leader in this product category. Logitech now utilizes Marble optical technology for all of its trackballs, ensuring a high level of precision and reliability, while requiring little maintenance due to the lack of mechanical moving parts. In 1998, the company introduced the first optical trackball to combine optical precision with the freedom and flexibility of cordlessness.
Logitech Cordless Optical TrackMan uses either a USB or a PS/2 interface and is compatible with Windows 95 and later, including Windows XP, as well as Macintosh 8.6 or later operating systems. It carries a five-year limited warranty.
