LG Electronics Unveils Industry's First Eco-Friendly Steam Washer

May 2005 /PRNewswire/ -- In a move to reinforce its commitment to innovation, the environment and improving consumers' every day lives, LG Electronics, a leading global consumer products manufacturer, unveiled for the first time a glimpse at what the 'laundry room of tomorrow will look like, today,' with its new LG Tromm Stream Washing System at the 2005 Kitchen/Bath Industry Show. As the latest addition to its Tromm Laundry System product line, this ultra-capacity device incorporates "steam" technology to clean clothes, and uses less water and energy, while preventing shrinkage and extending the life cycle of a garment. Once again, LG has brought to market a higher performance product surpassing industry standards. This unique innovation will be on private display at the Las Vegas Convention Center (Booth #3712), May 10-12, 2005.

"LG Electronics is committed to bringing quality products to consumers that help to improve the quality of their every day lives. And the LG Tromm Stream Washing System is just one example of that dedication to innovation, and to the communities and industries in which we serve and lead," said Teddy Hwang, President of Digital Appliances for LG Electronics, U.S.A. "While only one product, it's one that can make a huge difference and impact on the environment, and from a technology standpoint, it's one that we're incredibly proud of."

More than Smoke and Mirrors
Operating at significantly less energy required than other front load washers on the market, the new energy- and water-efficient LG Tromm Steam Washing System is a front controlled system, with its electronic controls on the front of the unit for added convenience -- helping to save space while still offering a larger load capacity. Further, this unique innovation offers LG's Direct Drive, a belt-less system that delivers power directly from the motor to the drum so that consumers can benefit from having fewer loads of laundry, reduced noise and increased energy and water savings.

The LG Tromm Steam Washing System, which allow consumers to clean clothes using LG's Stream Spraying technology, also features a process that enables them to treat old wrinkles from garments and remove odors without washing -- helping to minimize water usage. The LG Stream Washing System will be available in 1Q 2006 at a manufacturer's suggested retail price of $1,499.
