April 6, 2005 – Kyocera Wireless Corp., a leading global manufacturer of CDMA wireless handsets and devices, and Virgin Mobile USA, LLC just debuted the “K10 Royale,” a new JAVA-enabled wireless handset. As the first Kyocera phone to use the JAVA platform, the K10 Royale enables Virgin Mobile customers to download a huge array of games, wallpapers and ringtones. The new handset also puts increased personalization and entertainment options at customers’ fingertips, making it unlike any other Kyocera phone currently on the market.

“As our first JAVA-enabled handset, K10 Royale is a phone we've been looking forward to launching for a very long time,” said Jim Kelly, executive vice president and COO at Kyocera Wireless Corp. "K10 users can tap into the rich well of downloads available using the JAVA platform. Virgin Mobile's focus on the youth market makes it the ideal carrier to help launch this phone, and we're thrilled to continue this extremely successful relationship.”

“Kyocera has been a key partner in helping Virgin Mobile deliver a superior mobile experience to the youth market,” said Dan Schulman, CEO of Virgin Mobile USA. “The K10 Royale is an important addition to our handset line-up, given its compelling combination of unique content and attractive price point.”

Based on Kyocera’s K400 series of phones, its best-selling line of wireless handsets, the K10 Royale comes loaded with premium demos of Bowling and Bejeweled from JAMDAT Mobile, an industry-leading provider of games for wireless handheld devices.

The K10 Royale also features real-music ringtones (known in the Virgin Mobile universe as Superphonic Ringtones) that can be downloaded over the air using JAVA, or online at www.virginmobileusa.com. In addition, the K10 Royale features voice-activated dialing, calendars, alarm clock, flashlight, a built-in contact directory and predictive text-input for rapid text entry.

In addition to the Kyocera K10 Royale, Virgin Mobile also sells the Kyocera K9, K7 Rave and the Slider V5 *MTV Edition handsets. Virgin Mobile was the first carrier to offer the Slider V5 handset in North America.
