John Deere Launches New Riding Lawn Tractor in Time for Spring

January 31, 2005 - John Deere is continuing to enhance its line of superior lawn tractors with its newest addition, the L111. The tractor boasts a Briggs & Stratton OHV 20 horsepower V-Twin engine and offers John Deere’s exclusive EDGE Cutting System all for under $1800.

“John Deere is known for its legendary quality, durability and reliability, and we want to continue to create tractors for customers that offer those exceptional qualities,” says Cleo Franklin, John Deere Group Product Manager for the Riding Lawn Equipment Division. The L111 will replace the L110 in the 100 Series and offer comfort features such as an automatic foot control transmission, cruise control and a comfortable yellow, padded seat with the widest range of total seat travel in its class.

The L111 also offers The EDGE Cutting System, a John Deere exclusive. Its 42-inch deck is made to mow up to 1.5 acres, and is constructed with a deep-dome design that provides better airflow for increased capacity and a clean, even cut lawn. The blade tip distance from the front of the deck allows the grass to stand back up to be cut while the increased blade overlap helps reduce striping. Additionally, the EDGE Cutting System features a completely smooth underside to reduce grass build up.

A full-length, welded steel frame positions the L111 to be more durable and prolong the tractor’s life. The frame also provides for easier use with a variety of attachments such as the 42” snowblower and 46” snowblade as well as the CargO Mount System attachments like the bucket holder and sun canopy.

The L111 will be sold at John Deere dealerships and The Home Depot. Products sold at both locations are backed by John Deere dealer support. The L111 will also be available for purchase online.
