IPEVO Kaleido R7 Wireless Digital Frame Now Available
March 2, 2009 – IPEVO, Inc., a designer and manufacturer of Internet-based devices, today announced the commercial availability of its Kaleido R7 wireless digital frame, previewed at CES 2009.
With the Kaleido R7, PC and Mac users have the ability to sync and stream their most important content – whether it be from a memory storage device, or wirelessly from the computer hard drive or the Web. When keeping the computer switched on isn’t practical, up to 3,000 images can be transferred from the hard drive or photo applications like iPhoto, and stored on the frame via the 512MB internal memory. For extended computer free viewing capacity, the user can simply plug-in their choice of SD memory card or USB storage device.
For a streamlined experience, IPEVO designed its propriety EyeStage content management software. This free subscription program makes it easy to navigate, browse images on photo-sharing Web sites such as Flickr and Picasa. Additionally, this channel-based concept enables consumers to create personalized playlists of their favorite RSS feeds with the click of a button.
"Digital photo frames on the market so far have been mere facsimiles of traditional picture frames, passively displaying files stored on memory cards. When designing the Kaleido R7, we wanted to redefine the experience of the varied ways people engage with their digital photos and preferred content," said Royce Hong, CEO and Chief Designer of IPEVO. "A digital frame should enhance the way consumers experience and express their understanding of the world around them. We believe we have accomplished this ambitious goal with the Kaleido R7."
Combining form and function, the Kaleido R7 features a raised ‘floating’ display mounted on a special bi-directional hinge with orientation sensors allowing the 7-inch screen to rotate and tilt for optimal viewing in landscape or portrait positions. The backlit, 800 x 480 resolution screen offers auto-rotation and smart-zoom / fill-in options to enhance the viewing experience. Furthermore, the front-facing touchpad control base and included remote control provide for easy and convenient information and menu navigation.
IPEVO plans to develop a free iPhone application and will make the Kaleido R7 compatible with other Windows Mobile-compliant smartphones. The result will be the live streaming of images stored on the phone or content accessed via the Web directly to the frame.
The IPEVO Kaleido R7 wireless digital frame is available for $199, exclusively at http://store.ipevo.com. The EyeStage software is available as a free download on the IPEVO Web site at www.ipevo.com.
