Infogrames Hits Target With Deer Hunter 2003
Oct. 16 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- Let the hunt begin. The number one publisher of outdoor sports gaming, Infogrames, Inc. (NASDAQ:IFGM) has begun shipping Deer Hunter 2003 to software retailers today. Developed by Sunstorm Interactive, Deer Hunter 2003 features jaw-dropping, photo-realistic 3D environments, a new outdoor sports gaming engine and the most comprehensive hunting simulation on the market to date. As the keystone of Infogrames' comprehensive hunting trilogy, Deer Hunter 2003 joins Infogames' other two outdoor sports titles - Bird Hunter 2003 and Trophy Hunter 2003 - both released earlier this month.
"Deer Hunter is the series that defined the standard for all virtual hunting games, and it's back for 2003 with a new high powered gaming engine, additional game play modes and the most immersive game play environments currently in the stores," said Ann Marie Bland, director of marketing at Infogrames' Beverly studio. "Infogrames outsells any competitor 2 to 1 in the hunting genre," Bland continued, "and owns 40% of the outdoor sports market for the simple fact that, we consistently give the consumer the most engaging hunting games available today."
Escaping to the majestic beauty and serenity of the backcountry, virtual hunters choose from game play modes like: "Hunt Now", "Hunting Trip", and "Hunt Online". Exclusive to Deer Hunter 2003 is the new "Learn to Hunt" tutorial that teaches amateur hunters game skills and the basics of the hunt, strategic positions, gun instructions, calling and deer behavior. Another new option, "Be the Hunter", employs a hunter skills system that immerses players in the game like never before while developing and advancing character skills throughout the hunt like marksmanship, calling and tracking.
Deer Hunter 2003 features virtual hunters tracking white-tailed, Columbia black-tailed and mule deer on huge maps covering more than five square miles of swamps, farmland, northern forests and mountains in world class locations such as Alabama, Iowa, Quebec, Wyoming and British Columbia. Providing the ultimate hunting experience players can use equipment such as grunt calls, scents, binoculars and tree stands to capture a trophy-winning deer. Additionally, Deer Hunter 2003 features advanced detailed environments including grass, bushes and rocks plus weather and lighting effects to make the hunt more realistic.
Other new features include a video camera allowing players to record their hunt and share with friends over the Internet, multi-player support over LAN or Internet and the ability to download new content like textures for hunters, sporting arms and vehicles.
Deer Hunter 2003 is selling for a suggested retail price of $19.99.
