Huffy Sports Changes the Look of Home Basketball

November 2003– Huffy Sports Company, a manufacturer of home and institutional basketball systems, sports balls and other family recreational products, is changing the look of home basketball with the introduction of Cobra, the first basketball system of its kind to feature an S-Pole design. The one-of-a-kind portable basketball hoop, which resembles a Cobra snake poised to strike, offers a fresh new look to traditional basketball systems. Cobra’s patent pending pole design also offers a unique product benefit. The shape of the pole creates added offset, which means there is increased room for play underneath the basket.

In addition to Cobra’s unique pole design, the portable basketball system features a 44” steel-framed acrylic backboard with a solid steel Slam Jam breakaway rim. The rim comes equipped with the Smart Clip safety net release system, which allows the net to pull away from the rim if a player becomes entangled during play.

Cobra also comes with a height-adjustment feature that allows the height of the rim to be adjusted between eight and 10 feet. The feature is ideal for families with young children, allowing the basket to be lowered to accommodate smaller players. Cobra also comes with a large plastic base that fills with water or sand for stability. Two large wheels mounted on the front of the base allow for instant and easy portability around a driveway.

The NBA-licensed Cobra portable basketball system retails for under $199.
