Hotel Regina Isabella Unveils Renovated Rooms

June 20, 2005 – The Hotel Regina Isabella, an exclusive five-star luxury hotel and thermal spa on the Mediterranean island of Ischia, has completed the renovation of the suites on the Royal floor.

Each Royal Suite has a special private plunge pool that can be filled with either thermal or seawater. In addition, many of the other rooms on the property have been further upgraded.

Since it was built by publisher Angelo Rizzoli in the early 1950s, and now under the ownership of Giancarlo Carriero, The Hotel Regina Isabella has been a hot spot for the international jet set and has played host to some of the great celebrities of the century, including Elizabeth Taylor, Richard Burton, Charlie Chaplin and Clark Gable, as well as numerous kings, queens and nobles.

Fittingly, the Royal Suites have been named in their honor.

Whether you’re staying in Elizabeth Taylor , Richard Burton , Ginger Rogers or Jack Lemmon , each Royal Suite has a 26 flat screen Bang & Olufsen interactive satellite TV, as well as a 19 TV in the bathroom; a view of the sea with one or more balconies; Murano lamps, Neopolitan ceramics and antique furniture, sitting rooms and large closets.

Some have bathrooms with separate tubs and showers. Enjoy the decadence of the Charlie Chaplin Suite. Bathroom A (75 sq. f) has a whirlpool bath that can be filled with hot thermal water, cold seawater or regular water. The bedroom area offers access to a large terrace with private pool that can be filled with hot and cold water from the sea; large 4-door closet; sitting area with couch, two armchairs and coffee table, vanity, another table with four chairs and TV.

Gianni Agnelli , Anna Magnani, Ava Gardner, Clark Gable, Charles Boyer, Maria Callas and Sofia Loren Suites all contain a terrace and private pool with the choice of hot thermal water, cold water from the sea or regular water.

Alfred Hitchcock, Marie Curie, Ali McGraw, Farah Dilba, Gina Lollobrigida and Herbert von Karajan Suites each have a special shower fed by seawater from a waterfall where the temperature can be regulated.

The Claudia Cardinale Suite has a bathroom with window and whirlpool tub with the choice of the three types of water.

Special Suites Combining the Richard Burton and Liz Taylor or Charlie Chaplin and Marie Curie Royal Rooms can form two Presidential Suites, complete with two bedrooms and a sitting room.

The Suite Cinecittà has two bedrooms and three bathrooms with one entrance at the end of the hallway.

The Imperial Suite Hollywood offers guests the choice of three bedrooms, a sitting area and five bathrooms, or two bedrooms, two sitting rooms and four bathrooms. There is one entrance for the suite encompassing the entire end of the hallway.

Stepping into the Hotel Regina Isabella, guests enter a world of noble spaces full of light and life. The majestic architectural environment is designed in the rich style of the 1950’s. Corridors and public rooms are decorated in real artistic treasures: authentic Capodimonte ceramic floors; hand-painted Majolica tiles; furniture in the style of grand Neapolitan villas; lamps and chandeliers in Murano glass; paintings and tapestries in exquisite detail – all attuned to Mediterranean aesthetics.

Each room at the Hotel Regina Isabella is different, with hand painted Majolica tiles that vary in color and design and unique interior furnishings that have been meticulously preserved. Luxury linen sheets are just one of the many exquisite touches that add an extra layer of elegance.

Prices at The Hotel Regina Isabella range from $182.98 for a Standard single room (with sea view) for one guest to $775.38 per person for a Royal Deluxe Suite (sea view). The property is closed from January 6 – April 2 and November 10 – December 27.
