Hot Chillys Freshens Up Women's Spring '03 Apparel

July 10, 2002 -- Hot Chillys freshens up its spring '03 women's line with BioSilver, a natural antimicrobial that reduces odors, in all bra, briefs and sport shorts. The company also redesigns the entire women's line with a contemporary look in new and continuing pieces.

Hot Chillys has been synonymous with winter base layers featuring high performance, innovative fabrics for almost 20 years. The company introduced spring apparel in performance fabrications in 1992. "In the last year we have made serious inroads into the spring market with System Bras featuring our proprietary BioSilver, and are taking that momentum into the entire spring fitness and outdoor categories for women," said Guy Wells, president of Hot Chillys. While the primary focus for spring is on the women's line, the company will continue to offer men's pieces.

"We've always been a resource for fabrication choice," commented Wells. "We think that the women's market is under-served and we've got the unusual fabrics and innovative silhouettes to fill a niche. Whether women are looking for active pieces for sports such as running or something functional yet comfortable for pursuits such as yoga and Pilates, Hot Chillys apparel both looks good and even more importantly, feels good."

New BioSilver - A technological breakthrough fabric using ionized silver yarns to reduce odors naturally, BioSilver has been such a hit in lining Hot Chillys' System bras (performance sports bras) that the company will use it in the lining of all its bras, briefs and sports shorts in popular MTF 3000, MicroFiber 1 and other fabrics.

BioSilver has a unique molecular structure that differentiates it from other silver-containing fabrics on the market. "Instead of just coating the yarn with silver like other pioneering companies using silver technology, we actually spin the silver particles into the yarn," said Wells. "As a result BioSilver has a much softer hand than fabrics with simply a silver coating on the outside of the yarns." Additionally, the Bio-Silver dyes into all Hot Chilly colors without streaks or lines.

Sport Bras

  • Hot Chillys largest presentation of BioSilver will continue to be in the company's emerging System Bras, supportive sports bras in "Systems 1, 2 and 3" for high impact activities.
  • Known as an antimicrobial and moisture management fabric, the MTF 3000 bras will now come lined with the BioSilver for extra odor reducing benefits. In several silhouettes, they are great for lower impact activities, or smaller busted women.

Briefs & Shorts

  • MicroFiber 1, popular for spring as Hot Chillys' lightest weight moisture management fabric, will now feature BioSilver in the full brief liner of its sports shorts and in the gusseted crotch in the brief.
  • Fitness shorts in a variety of fabrications will all feature BioSilver in the crotch panel.

New Items

  • Bottoms including fitness shorts and capris in several fabrications and a new MicroFiber 1 drawstring pant with a flared bottom.
  • Tops such as the new hooded MTF 3000 pullover jacket, V-neck tank and camisole with an inner constructed shelf bra.

Updates

  • Fresher, more current styling such as contrast flat stitched seams on the outside of the garments for a more vibrant, athletic look, and "lap V" waistbands for more updated styling.
  • Technical updates on current pieces for better performance and a more anatomical fit such as wider waistband on all bottoms.
  • BioSilver lining on all underwear pieces, and the crotch gussets of fitness bottoms.

Hot Chillys will show the spring '03 line August 8-11 at the Outdoor Retailer show in Salt Lake City, Utah at booth 1701.
