First TV Channel Created for PocketPCs AnnouncedMulti-Platform Worldwide Distribution Set for Summer 2001 With Previews At Cannes Film Festival and MforMobile, Wireless Lifestyle Conference May 2 -- Kanakaris Wireless announced that it will be launching the first "next generation wireless TV channel" this summer, with previews scheduled in Cannes, France during May at the Cannes Film Festival and MforMobile Conference. Among several firsts being achieved by AK.TV, this will be the first TV channel created for delivery on PocketPCs. It can also be viewed in any Internet enabled device as well as TVs. "After five years of breaking barriers in providing on-demand delivery of movies and books, Kanakaris Wireless has created a 24/7 interactive channel that can be viewed worldwide on multiple platforms," said CEO Alex Kanakaris. "Get ready for a whole new prime time. AK.TV breaks the delivery barrier of scheduled programming because AK.TV goes where you go. Devices from wireless PDA like the PocketPC to cellular phones to laptops, to desktop PCs to TVs," said John McKay Webmaster and Director, Kanakaris Wireless. "Kanakaris Wireless' proprietary CinemaWEAR(TM) encoding makes it possible to deliver both prerecorded and live content which may be viewed in wireless mobile devices, computers and TVs. AK.TV is a dramatic use of this technology, as well as KANWIN -- the Kanakaris Wireless Independent Network -- which breaks the bandwidth bottleneck," said Robert Wood, Chief Technology Officer, Kanakaris Wireless. When watching AK.TV on a computing device, users have multiple opportunities to interact with the content. You can click on videos to transact business, e-mail or phone in to live programs and join chat rooms to discuss content. A new brochure on AK.TV and a brochure on the Kanakaris Wireless Independent Network (KANWIN) may be viewed online at www.KKRS.Net or www.Kanakaris.com (click on Corporate Info and the link for the brochures on this web page). Successful beta tests of AK.TV, including a web cast of a Kanakaris Wireless studio office grand opening last week, have been completed. AK.TV will launch this summer, following the Cannes, France previews in May.
