Families Cozying Up to the (Smoothie) Bar

Jan. 2003 /PRNewswire/ -- Back to basics: as a whole, the country is craving a simpler life that incorporates home, health and hearth. Today's family kitchen can now offer one convenience that until recently was only found in popular strip mall stores: the smoothie bar.

Smoothie makers designed to achieve a consistency usually reserved for retail smoothie stores are available to the general public from Back to Basics. These patent-pending machines include features such as a lid-mounted stir stick, powerful ice-crushing blades, and a convenient dispensing valve. The company's smoothie makers and mixes will be featured at the 2003 Chicago International Housewares Show (Booth #S1443). See www.backtobasics.com .

Smooth operators who purchased the 2001-release Original Smoothie Maker have shared their experiences, claming it to be a "wonderful, easy, convenient machine. I love it!" and noting, "Regular blenders don't do the job well," "I feel like a pro from a juice bar."

Among Back to Basics' new ready-to-mix beverages for 2003 is the "Party" collection. Pina Coladas, Margaritas, and Daiquiri-flavored drinks are just a mylar pouch and some ice away from completion, or can be zipped up with spirited additions. Nutritional, real-fruit mixes that make up to 24 ounces of delicious smoothies including Strawberry Banana, Tropical Mango and Peach Berry are also available.

Back to Basics' smoothie models -- from the Smoothie Elite to the new Smoothie Pro -- deliver made-to-order smoothies as well as impeccable frozen coffee drinks that have become highly sought-out from national coffee chains.

Available in White, Black, Brushed Chrome or Traditional Chrome finishes, the Back to Basics smoothie makers range from $39.99 to $89.99 (SRP), and are sold at national retail stores, as well as from national home products catalogs.
