Epson Stylus Photo 875DCS Offers New Printing Solution for Memory Stick Products
Epson announces a printer that conveniently
enables PC and Macintosh owners to use Memory Stick products. The new
EPSON
Stylus Photo 875DCS is an advanced, six-color 1,440 dpi printer that
delivers outstanding quality output. With a built-in digital PCMCIA
card
reader and included Memory Stick adapter, it is compatible with and
meets
the printing needs of virtually any Memory Stick digital imaging
product on
the market, including PCs, cameras and camcorders.
Once connected to the computer, the EPSON Stylus Photo 875DCS acts as the Memory Stick drive for a PC or Macintosh. The printer also features convenient auto-launching of Sierra Imaging's Image Expert photo editing software that enables users to easily transfer digital files from a Memory Stick card. In addition, customers get a copy of Adobe PhotoDeluxe 4.0 (version 2.0 for Macintosh) for custom editing and enhancing of photos.
"We've developed a compelling ink jet printing solution that further expands the easy sharing of digital images for Memory Stick products," said Jay Shears, director of Consumer Marketing, Epson America, Inc. "By combining our patented Micro Piezo print technology with fast output, ease of use, and just about everything you need for the highest quality printing solution, we're confident that Memory Stick users will find that the Stylus Photo 875DCS is the most versatile and value-rich Memory Stick ink jet printer available."
"We value Epson's development of a printer that maximizes the benefits of Memory Stick and expands the world of Memory Stick products," said Mark Viken, president of Sony Electronics' Personal Network Solutions Company.
Epson's high-speed output and exclusive continuous edge-to-edge snapshot printing enables users to quickly create a variety of prints on several different media. Customers can create 4" x 6" snapshots in as little as 48 seconds and individual 8" x 10" images as quickly as 1 minute 50 seconds. A roll paper holder that is included with the Stylus Photo 875DCS feeds the paper through the printer, producing marginless snapshots and panoramics quickly, easily and conveniently with efficient paper consumption.
Using Epson's Advanced Micro Piezo ink jet technology and AcuPhoto Halftoning, the Stylus Photo 875DCS takes advantage of an advanced six-color photo ink system for virtually continuous tone, the smoothest gradations, beautiful skin tones, sharp contrast and an ultra-wide color range designed ideally for photography. And with the reduced four-picoliter, variable-sized "unvisible" droplets, it delivers up to 69 levels of tone.
The printer also has a maximum printable area of 8.26" x 43.76" and can handle a variety of paper sizes, including: letter, legal and panoramic sizes up to 8.5" x 44" for projects such as snapshots, personalized greeting cards or bigger-than-life panoramics.
Pricing and Availability
The EPSON Stylus Photo 875DCS will be available at Circuit City and CompUSA, as well as Epson's online store for an estimated street price of $349. For even greater value, Epson is offering up to $150 in consumer mail-in rebates off the sale of the EPSON Stylus Photo 875DCS when purchased with Sony Cyber-shot digital cameras, Handycam camcorders and VAIO PCs.
Warranty and Support
The printer is both Windows- and Macintosh-compatible and carries a one-year Epson Exchange Warranty that enables customers to receive a replacement printer if a problem cannot be corrected by telephone technical support. They are also supported by the EPSON ConnectionSM, a customer support and technical assistance line.
