Epiphone Guitar Sponsors Grammy Camp

August 4, 2005 -- Epiphone Guitar announced today their first-ever sponsorship of the The GRAMMY Foundation's inaugural GRAMMY Camp. Continuing their commitment to music education, Epiphone has supported the GRAMMY Foundation's programs to select 50 high school students from across the country to participate in this extensive learning experience. GRAMMY Camp, a nine-day, hands-on instruction course, connects students with the industry's leading music professionals and college instructors to explore careers in writing, recording, performing and other music fields. Boasting an innovative and largely interactive curriculum, the experience promises to provide a tangible demonstration of the exciting career opportunities available to them. Epiphone Guitar has partnered with the GRAMMY Foundation to ensure students are part of an unforgettable musical and educational journey supported by the tradition and heritage that Epiphone has become known for around the world.

"GRAMMY Camp is an exciting new initiative for the Foundation that complements our portfolio of valuable music education programs," said Neil Portnow, President of the GRAMMY Foundation. "The students will have access to some of the best minds in the business as they gain real-world, hands-on exposure while learning skills that will enhance their musical talents - all in a week filled with the power of music."

"We have a long history with The GRAMMY Foundation," said Henry Juszkiewicz, Chairman and CEO of Gibson Guitar, Epiphone's parent company. "Joining them for their inaugural GRAMMY Camp program is another way Epiphone and the entire company can help mold musicians of tomorrow through an insightful and creative process everyone will enjoy."

GRAMMY Camp faculty will be comprised of an esteemed group of music business and recording faculty from the host institution, Citrus College, and will include GRAMMY-winning and nominated professionals. This parallel approach to instruction will provide students with both academic and real-world applications to sufficiently prepare them for career opportunities down the line.

Through Epiphone's sponsorship The GRAMMY Camp instruction will include audio engineering, music business, film/television scoring and arranging, performance and songwriting. Program highlights feature one-on-one time in studio sessions, master classes, specialized clinics, question-and-answer sessions with industry professionals and a field trip, but the ultimate experience upon completion of the course will be their active participation in a concert showcase.
