Enroute Introduces FirstPerson Immersive Video For Home Entertainment Platforms

Enroute, Inc., a leading developer of digital and immersive imaging technologies, today introduces its FirstPerson Immersive Video System for the Sony Playstation2 and other next-generation home entertainment platforms.

Enroute's immersive video solution enables consumers to view broadcast quality, full-motion video in a fully spherical or cylindrical perspective, creating a "you are there" experience for the user. With FirstPerson, a variety of immersive content ranging from music concerts and sporting events to adventure and travel titles can now be experienced at matchless quality on home entertainment systems.

"The viewing public demands rich, interactive media that not only entertains, but engages," said Paul Cha, Executive Vice President of Enroute, Inc. "Our broadcast quality immersive content takes viewers beyond simply thinking to actually seeing 'outside the box' by visually transporting them into the scene."

FirstPerson Immersive Video titles will be distributed primarily on CD-ROM and DVD-ROM discs that will be sold in video and mass merchandise retail outlets. The discs will initially be playable on Sony's Playstation 2 and PCs. In the near future, Enroute's platform-agnostic solution will provide FirstPerson immersive content playable on a host of home entertainment devices including set-top boxes, DVD players and other enabled electronic devices. Processing multiple video streams captured by any multi-lens spherical or cylindrical camera creates the FirstPerson immersive viewing experience. Enroute's viewer plays back the video and allows a user to pan and tilt in any direction -- up, down, left, right, in front & behind, and zoom in, zoom out while the video is in full-motion.

The system increases the creative options available to content developers by greatly expanding the means of visually communicating with their audience. FirstPerson can also be used for news, sports, content-enriched DVD movies, reality-based TV shows, location-based entertainment and videogames.

FirstPerson is the ideal communication tool for any industry desiring an interactive relationship with their audience, including entertainment, music, advertising, informational applications, the automotive sector (immersive test drives), travel and tourism, real estate and property development. Among the many commercial, industrial and government applications are security, remote monitoring, training, simulation and video documentation.
