Enhanced PLAYPHONE.COM Site Launched with Web, WAP, SMS and Retail Services
December5, 2005. -- PlayPhone, the leading provider of multi-channel Direct-To-Consumer (D2C) digital entertainment destinations, and Crisp Wireless, a leading provider of mobile content management, delivery, and commerce solutions, today announced the launch of an enhanced release of the PLAYPHONE.COM consumer destination, the industry's most comprehensive mobile content portal.
The PlayPhone-Crisp collaboration significantly enhances the mobile device interface to the PLAYPHONE.COM site. Consumers now have the ultimate flexibility of using a mobile device or their PC to browse one of the most complete catalogs available in the U.S, to order products via premium carrier billing, to register PlayCredit prepaid retail cards, and to configure many new service options.
The Crisp mLogic Store platform is used to deliver the new mobile device interface, accessible from the majority of mobile handsets in U.S. In addition to buying content from the Web site, consumers can browse, search for, download, and pay for content direct to the mobile device.
"PlayPhone has always led the way in providing the consumer with many options for finding and purchasing wireless entertainment content," said PlayPhone COO Kevin Bradshaw. "From retail stores, magazines and TV, to the web and now direct via wireless devices, we are continuing this strategy. What you see today at PLAYPHONE.COM we believe is the best and broadest service offering the mobile consumer will find, with multi-channel access to a broad catalog of wireless entertainment content and services available in North America.
"Together we have provided a way for wireless consumers to take part in the wireless entertainment experience any time, anywhere," said Boris Fridman, CEO of Crisp Wireless. "Now, there is a true one-stop shopping destination for mobile content, and consumers can browse and buy from the Web, their phone, and in retail stores."
The wireless direct-to-consumer market is growing rapidly in the U.S., and the PlayPhone-Crisp partnership enables consumers to acquire entertainment content directly via the Web, wireless Web, retail cards, television, and printed media, using a few simple steps. Industry analysts, LogicaCMG, forecast consumer demand worldwide for downloadable mobile phone content to triple in the next 12 months, creating a $9.1 billion market.
The Crisp-PlayPhone solution extends the number and effectiveness of PlayPhone’s distribution channels in North and South America and offers content partners access to one of the largest global audiences for mobile entertainment content.
"We have already established ourselves as the foremost retail distributor of mobile games, ringtones, wallpapers and much more," said Ron Czerny, CEO of PlayPhone. "Now, in partnership with the major carriers in the U.S., the new PLAYPHONE.COM site is the model upon which we will be rolling out a number of white-labeled and co-branded destinations during 2006. We are confident that sites such as PLAYPHONE.COM, and those of our white label partners, will significantly extend the reach of our distribution and publishing partners."
PlayPhone's current line-up of mobile content includes popular games from leading publishers including Digital Chocolate Electronic Arts, Gameloft, Glu, iFone, In-Fusio, I-Play, Real Arcade, SEGA, SkyZone, TelcoGames, and many others. PlayPhone also offers thousands of ringtones, screensavers, animated graphics and video ringtones to personalize wireless phones with the hottest mobile content available.
