Acer Tops Market as Number One Provider of Standalone LCDs
March 27, 2006- Acer® America Corporation, one of the leading worldwide suppliers of IT solutions, announced today that they maintained and increased their position as the number one standalone provider LCD's in the North American market during Q4 2005 according to DisplaySearch. Acer grew its share in North America 28% sequentially from Q3'05 to Q4'05, well above the industry norm of just 11%. Additionally, when compared on a yearly basis Acer achieved the highest increase in shipments into North America among all standalone vendors in the period with a 129% growth rate from Q4'04 to Q4'05 when the entire NA industry witnessed only a 42% growth in the same period. After focusing on the LCD monitor market Acer has grown its North American marketshare consistently, rising from a 0.7% share in Q1'04 to a 6.0% marketshare position in Q4'05.
In the North American market Acer has jumped from the eighteenth position during Q1 2004 to their current number 3 overall ranking due to a 100% channel focused business model which has been adopted worldwide. Acer has became a top four worldwide vendor for of desktop LCD monitors and the top provider of LCD desktop monitors across Europe, with a particular focus on stand-alone monitors, for several years.
