Cobra Electronics Introduces High-Power 22-Channel Two-Way Radios
May 23 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- Cobra Electronics has added two exciting new 22-channel radios to its microTALK product line. Utilizing the functionality, affordability and compactness found in Cobra's family radio service (FRS) line, while adding the extended five-mile range of General Mobile Radio Service (GMRS) technology, the PR 950DX and the PR 1100WX offer consumers the best of both worlds."Our 2002 long-range radios demonstrate what Cobra is capable of delivering to the marketplace by listening to what our customers want," said Tony Mirabelli, senior vice president, marketing and sales for Cobra Electronics. "These two watt, 22-channel radios provide greater range and more communication options, which is ideal for today's active airwaves."
The PR 950DX and the PR 1100WX have a new Switchable Power Output feature, which delivers 500mW when using the FRS channels and two watts when using GMRS channels. If two watts are not necessary when using GMRS, the user can switch to 500mW power to extend battery life. Both products also come standard with rechargeable batteries and a charger. The sporty units are targeted at families on the go, outdoors enthusiasts and businesses.
Both radios provide up to a five-mile range, UHF/FM for ultra clear long-distance reception, access to 22 communications channels (seven FRS/GMRS, seven FRS, eight GMRS), 38 privacy codes for each channel, and backlit LCD display for easy viewing at night or in dark conditions. They also include VOX, 10-Channel Memory, Scan Feature, VibrAlert silent vibrating alert, Key Lock, Roger Beep Tone, Auto Squelch, Battery Saver Circuitry, a Wrist Strap and a Belt Clip. The PR 950DX and the PR1100WX are also water resistant.
In addition, the PR 1100WX features outstanding functionality for the outdoors enthusiast with the NOAA (National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration) All Hazards Alert Radio, a part of the Emergency Alert System (EAS). This feature warns users about weather, chemical and other civilian emergencies. The unit also includes an eight-point digital compass, a clock and a stopwatch with split/lap timer feature. An appealing new feature for business use is the 10 Call Tones that allow a user to differentiate between up to 10 different parties on incoming calls.
Both of Cobra's new radios are now available at major retailers nationwide. The PR 950DX is available in blue metallic and has a suggested retail price of $89.95 per unit. The PR 1100DX is available in gray metallic and has a suggested retail price of $119.95 per unit.
