Chicago Cutlery Intros New Landmark Edition Collection

June 2005—A pioneer in the industry, Chicago Cutlery® marks its 75th anniversary in 2005 with the introduction of its commemorative Landmark Edition™ collection of fine cutlery.

Chicago Cutlery’s Landmark Edition embodies the company’s trademark elegance, strength, sharpness and ease of handling. The blades, crafted of high-carbon stainless steel and chromium to resist rust and staining, are engineered with Chicago Cutlery’s signature Taper Grind™ Edge for extreme sharpness and resharpening ease.

Forged bolsters increase safety, weight and balance, and the metal tang, extending the length of the knife, offers increased strength, balance and control.

The graceful stainless steel and black polymer handles deliver style together with a sturdy non-slip grip.

All the cutlery in the Landmark Edition is imprinted with Chicago Cutlery’s 75th Anniversary Collection legend.

A reputation for originality and craftsmanship
The nation’s leading cutlery maker, and among the world’s top knife manufacturers, Chicago Cutlery was founded in the Windy City in 1930 as a sharpening service for professional butchers. Recognizing the growing market for high-quality knives, the company shifted into commercial cutlery manufacturing and launched its reputation for originality and craftsmanship, which would ultimately transform the quality of cutlery in America’s kitchens.

Among its earliest inventions, Chicago Cutlery in 1936 introduced the Taper Grind™ Edge, a grinding system crafted to provide optimum balance between extreme sharpness and ease of resharpening, and effectively extending the life and quality of each blade. The Taper Grind Edge continues to be a hallmark of Chicago Cutlery’s quality and craftsmanship.

After decades as a commercial knife manufacturer, Chicago Cutlery entered the consumer retail market in 1969.

Among its innovations was the introduction, in 1976, of the first solid wood, slanted knife block which revolutionized knife storage safety in the home. In 2001, the company, now firmly in forged construction, introduced its first ergonomically-designed stainless steel knife featuring polymer handles for easier-than-ever handling.

Landmark Edition 12-piece Block Set includes: 3” peeler, 3” parer, four 4” steak knives, 5” utility, 8” serrated bread, 8” carver, 8” chef, 8” sharpening steel and 11-slot wood Storage Block with stainless steel accents. The suggested retail price is $249.99.

Other Landmark Edition collection cutlery includes: 3-piece Carving Set with case ($39.99), 9-piece flatware steak set with case ($59.99), 9-piece steak set with case ($79.99) and a 3” parer with case ($19.99).
