BarPoint Expands Its Service For Digital and Web Enabled Cell Phones
BarPoint.com will
make it possible to access product and shopping information with any
digital or web enabled cell phone. BarPoint is extending its mobile
shopping and information service to millions of digital phone users by
introducing an SMS (Short Messaging System) version of the BarPoint
Shopper service.
In addition to the new SMS service, BarPoint has also added the ability to listen to audio clips of select songs right on a mobile phone, anytime, anywhere, from both digital and web-enabled phones. BarPoint offers mobile consumers an easier, more interactive shopping experience, allowing them to make informed and accurate buying decisions more conveniently.
"While we are very excited about the wireless web, there are currently millions of digital capable phones that do not have internet service," states John Macatee, President and CEO of BarPoint.com. "We are pleased to be able to offer BarPoint to all digital phone users."
The audio clip service is available now to users of web enabled phones. Beginning in mid-December using any digital SMS-enabled cell phone and their wireless phone service, consumers can empower themselves with detailed, up-to-the-minute product information. By simply provisioning their phone one time at www.barpoint.com, then dialing in to the BarPoint Shopper service, and entering the UPC number of a product, customers can listen to options, choose the information they want and, moments later, receive the specific information they requested right on their digital- capable phone in an easily readable SMS format. And, if the product falls under the music category, users may also be able to listen to song clips.
Using the BarPoint service is even easier for users of web-enabled phones. Several wireless carriers, such as AT&T and Verizon, offer the BarPoint site for selection on their Internet capable phones. And if your carrier doesn't include the BarPoint service, users can simply enter in the URL for the BarPoint site (http://www.barpoint.com/hdml) to access the product and shopping information they want. www.barpoint.com
