BAM! Entertainment Releases Driven for Game Boy Advance
Dec. 11 /PRNewswire/ --
BAM! Entertainment (Nasdaq: BFUN) announced today that it is shipping Driven
for Nintendo's Game Boy Advance system. Based on the Franchise Pictures and
Warner Bros. film, Driven starring Sylvester Stallone, Burt Reynolds, Kip
Purdue and Estella Warren was developed by UK-based studio Crawfish
Interactive. The Game Boy Advance release joins the PlayStation 2 version of
Driven, which shipped to U.S. and European retail outlets in November, and was
developed by BAM! Studios in London.
Driven is the first film property released by BAM! as part of its
strategic relationship formed with Franchise Pictures in April of this year.
The agreement gives BAM! the exclusive, first rights to produce interactive
entertainment software based on screenplays acquired by Franchise for
development. Franchise theatrical releases, distributed through Warner Bros.,
also include "Heist" starring Gene Hackman and Danny DeVito, "The Whole Nine
Yards" starring Bruce Willis and Matthew Perry, and "The Pledge" directed by
Sean Penn and starring Jack Nicholson.
"We look forward to leveraging BAM's! video game expertise in delivering high-quality interactive experiences to movie-goers worldwide", said Elie Samaha, founder and chairman of Franchise Pictures. "As we continue to develop projects together, our long-term strategic alliance will allow us to build upon our respective strengths in both the gaming and film industries."
Driven on Game Boy Advance contains numerous themes taken from the film, including the "In the Zone" concept, where players are rewarded for flawless driving with improved handling and increased speed. Staying true to the movie, poor driving can prove very dangerous and the tremendous speed at which the driver's race can result in multi-car crashes. Crawfish has also placed the emphasis on the driver's ability rather than the cars, making for a much more personality infused game. There are 12 team and driver combinations to choose from, each with their own individual strengths and weaknesses, and eight unique tracks, including sunny "Angel's Bay" in California, the picturesque countryside of "Manley Park" in England and the city streets of New York.
An arcade style racing game offering four-player, multi-play action, Driven is rated E for Everyone and is available at a suggested U.S. retail price of $39.99.
