Feb. 21 -- Audiovox Corporation today announced that its wholly-owned subsidiary Audiovox Electronics Corporation, introduced its new line of DVD-enabled video products which include mobile, home, portable and flat screen video models.
Included in the Audiovox line up will be a portable DVD player without screen (PDVDNS) that is designed to operate a vehicle-installed mobile video system; and two DVD in-dash changers. Also introduced will be a one-piece overhead DVD with a 7" drop down screen.

Because the PDVDNS player is used with existing screens in the vehicle, it creates custom overhead DVD solutions using up very little space. It features a headphone jack with volume control, Dolby Digital AC3/DTS optical digital output, Universal AC-DC switching power adapter DC 9V, cigarette lighter adapter for in-car use, optional rechargeable nickel mercury battery pack, and full function wireless remote control unit.

The Audiovox Single DIN in-dash DVD-3100 offers features such as a 13.5 V DC power supply, digital audio out (optical), two channel line out, auto NTSC/PAL disc detection, playback: CD/VCD and DVD, vibration resistance deck, 2-second electronic shock protection, on-screen display, repeat mode, Skip Forward/Reverse, Title/Chapter search, time search and search modes: (Slow/FastX2, X8, X16, X32), analog stereo audio output and analog video output (both RCA) and remote control.

The DVD-3200 features anti-skip automotive playback mechanism, a backlit control panel, infrared remote control, delayed power off, multi-on-screen display (menu options & functions), and closed caption. Its playable formats include: Audio CD, CD-R (writeable), CD-RW (rewriteable), VCD (video CD), DVD-SL (single layer), DVD-DL (dual layer), DVD-R (recordable), and CD-DA (24 bit) (digital audio).

Tom Malone, senior vice president, sales, stated, "Mobile Video is one of our showcase product lines. Our market share has grown from 33% and we expect to improve on that position. The breadth of our line clearly reflects Audiovox's commitment to our dealers, offering products and programs that are designed to appeal to them and their customers."

In addition to all the DVD players, Audiovox has introduced several overhead drop downs with new larger screens. They are the VOH-802 (8" screen), VOH-1042 (10.4") and VOH-1332 (13.3"), all with tuners. Also new is the VOH-702 with 7-inch drop-down screen, which is ideal for DVD viewing. Its 16 x 9 aspect ratio is the largest screen that fits the existing "footprint" of Audiovox mobile video products. While Audiovox will continue to develop vehicle specific consoles, a greater emphasis will be placed on universal applications that will provide lower component costs, which should translate into more aggressive retail prices.

The Company has also added two new VCPs to their existing line, the AVP-7200 and AVP-7280. Both models feature front and rear mounted AV jacks, giving the user the flexibility to easily hook up electronic accessories such as a video game, a DVD player or a camcorder. The new VCPs also feature a rear-mounted infrared jack that gives the user access to remote control applications.

Malone continued, "Our mobile electronics group is focused exclusively on the auto aftermarket industry with dedicated staff who direct their attention only to that market. Our distribution network is the best in the industry. Our exciting new products, especially the DVD offerings, will give the dealer many more selling opportunities in the mobile video category which translates into more sales and profits for them."

Building on the success of last year's portable DVD-1500, Audiovox introduced the DV-1680, the next generation of portable DVD. The new slim-line model features a 6.8" screen, cigarette lighter adapter and credit card-size remote. It will play DVD, CD, CDV (CD video), and CDR (converts music off your computer). The DV-1680 also plays CDRW (rewriteable) and MP3 material.

In addition, two shelf DVD models will also be introduced. The DV-2000, a 5 DVD/CD entertainment system with dual cassette player/recorder, AM/FM stereo, speakers with built-in subwoofer and remote control; and the DV-3000SLK, a slim-line vertical DVD/CD player with AM/FM radio, 6.4" LCD color TV and remote control.

The Company's first large size TV will be a 20-inch TV/DVD combo unit, with built-in DVD player and remote control. There will also be a full entertainment system with DVD, Model DV-1100, a shelf system with tuner and 5 mini-cube speakers and subwoofer, 180-watts total power output, Dolby AC3 and DTS and DVD (Digital Theater System).

This year will also mark the debut of the Company's latest consumer electronics innovation, home video. The new home video units feature flat screen LCDs that can be either wall mounted or pedestal mounted. The units will offer a variety of screen sizes including 10.4", 14.1" and 15". All include built-in tuners, 128 channels and are cable ready. Several models include integrated DVD players. For additional information, please visit Audiovox on the Web at http://www.audiovox.com.
