Fusion Debuts First Internal Car Audio iPod Dock
October 23, 2008– Fusion announced today the world’s first car audio receiver featuring true Apple iPod integration and internal docking, the CA-IP500. Offering innovative docking and charging inside the head unit, the new receiver eliminates installation hassles and the need for cables, while providing a stable and secure in-vehicle iPod location for the ultimate in flexibility and music accessibility.
Unlike other head units on the market, the Fusion receiver mirrors the iPod user interface to ensure simple, familiar control of the iPod directly from the head unit. The Fusion CA-IP500 iPod receiver solution offers music enthusiasts the latest in audio technology, the ultimate in convenience and an enhanced overall audio experience.
The Fusion CA-IP500 is compatible with iPod Classic (Gen5 and Gen6), iPod Nano (Gen2 and Gen3), and all of the recently announced generations of iPod Touch and iPod Nano systems. Offering full iPod control directly from the head unit for effortless navigation, the Fusion receiver’s simple and quick dual function rotary knob/joystick replicates the high-speed function of an iPod click-wheel. In addition to full iPod software integration and the unit’s internal iPod charging dock, the CA-IP500 features an AM/FM Tuner and RDS.
The receiver also boasts a full dot matrix OLED display providing greater brightness and contrast, as well as a significantly wider viewing angle with high-performance graphics and clear, easy-to-read text than traditional LCD screens. The Fusion CA-IP500’s SRS Wow sound shaping and electronic audio level settings produce simulated surround sound and offer superior audio quality.
“Before Fusion introduced the CA-IP500, iPod support in car stereo systems was kludgey at best,” said Todd Crocker, head of region, Fusion Electronics USA. “With our new solution, the iPod nestles into the stereo, removing the need for cables, elaborate set-up or extra space. Our complementary iPod interface also gives users a seamless and familiar way to access their music. Taken together, our new iPod receiver is the most simple and powerful car audio solution available on the market.”
The first car audio unit to provide true internal Apple iPod docking, the Fusion CA-IP500’s internal dock can be accessed by pulling down the faceplate of the receiver and placing an iPod inside the head unit. Complete with a 4-Channel plus subwoofer line out, auxiliary in, 7 band equalizer with 11x presets and 3x users, and subwoofer level control, the unit also features a clock, a white and blue illumination color options button and a security code with a detachable face plate for anti-theft. The CA-IP500 is a 50W x 4 MOSFET receiver, 40% more powerful than competitive units on the market, and is protected by a 3-year limited parts and labor warranty with the option of an additional 2-year flat-rate warranty extension.
Pricing and Availability: The Fusion CA-IP500 internal iPod dock receiver has a retail price of US $249.99 and is available from car audio and Best Buy throughout the United States and Canada.
