Audio Mill Unveils Bitbop Tuner; A Tuner and VCR-Like Software Application for Internet Radio
March 20 -Bill Putnam Jr., CEO and founder of Audio Mill, unveiled today Bitbop Tuner, a powerful new consumer software application that works like a customized tuner and self-piloting VCR for digital music. Bitbop Tuner, formerly known under the code name RadioActive, is available today for the first time in Beta format at www.Bitbop.com.

Bitbop Tuner searches Internet radio stations for live streaming music that matches the users profile and lets users make a personal recording of songs that they find on online radio stations.

Bitbop Tuner acts as a search engine for Internet radio. Once a user has entered their artist choices, Bitbop Tuner goes to work scanning thousands of online radio stations to locate channels featuring those artists. Acting as a multichannel tuner, Bitbop Tuner allows fans to see what's going on at those online radio stations based on their artist preferences and lets users listen to individual streamed songs on the fly. In addition, when Bitbop Tuner finds songs by the selected artists, it records the song for personal use. In short, Bitbop Tuner acts as a user's own personal DJ for Internet radio.

Bill Putnam Jr., CEO and founder of Audio Mill, remarked: "Right now there is no real good way to find the music that you like on Internet radio. Bitbop Tuner is the solution and is similar in function to the widely popular Tivo, an intelligent digital VCR. Imagine if your radio tuner could display all of your favorite radio stations along with a real-time list of what song was playing on each of those stations. You could then select the songs you wanted from any channel, essentially creating your own customized streaming radio station. This is what Bitbop Tuner does, but we took the idea one step further."

Music fans do not need to be present while Bitbop Tuner operates. Bitbop Tuner does its job while the user is sleeping, at work or in class by making personal recordings after the user requests the songs, just like a VCR does on TV. Putnam added: "Our goal is to give fans the same freedom and functionality they have come to enjoy with tape recorders and VCRs, and do that while sincerely respecting the rights of artists and their works." Recordings made from Internet radio stations by Bitbop Tuner are for the personal use of the individual and are encrypted and tethered to protect them from being distributed to others.
