America's Newest Ski Resort Is Open
Dec. 16 /PRNewswire/ -- After more than two decades, America's newest all-season destination -- Tamarack Resort -- opened its mountain to approximately 750 smiling skiers and snowboarders, resort property owners, resort guests, and state and local officials. Blue skies, freshly-groomed snow and a Tamarack staff of more than 200 greeted the guests on Tamarack's inaugural day of lift-served skiing.
Skiers and riders making first tracks on the mountain enjoyed 41 inches of snow pack on the summit, including one inch of new snow, and 12 inches of man-made snow at the base. Two high-speed quads, the Tamarack Express and Summit Express, took guests to the 7,700-foot summit to relish majestic views of Lake Cascade and surrounding mountains. Sixty percent of the available terrain was open, as was a portion of Tamarack's terrain park.
"Skiers and snowboarders throughout the State of Idaho and the US have waited for years, if not decades, to enjoy this beautiful mountain," said Tamarack Resort CEO Jean-Pierre Boespflug. "Yesterday, many were given that opportunity, as well as the opportunity to experience firsthand Tamarack's unparalleled level of hospitality."
Tamarack's 2004-05 Winter Season
This winter, ski and snowboard enthusiasts will have access to 25 downhill runs via five lifts, including the Tamarack Express and Summit Express -- both high-speed detachable quads -- which carry skiers and riders to Tamarack's 7,700-foot summit and provide a continuous 2,800-vertical-foot descent to the base area. The mix of terrain is suited for all skiers, boarders and families of varying abilities, as Tamarack offers what is considered in the industry a perfect mix of beginner, intermediate and advanced runs. And, for the freeriders and snowboarders, Tamarack will feature a 500-foot super pipe and 10-acre terrain park, complete with jib yard -- among the first in the Pacific Northwest. For the Nordic and backcountry skier, Tamarack offers a full-service Nordic ski park, complete with 30 km of ski trails, varied groomed and ungroomed snowshoe itineraries, as well as hundreds of acres of backcountry skiing.
