America West Announces Service for Five New Cities

July 15 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- America West Airlines (NYSE: AWA) announced today that it will initiate new nonstop roundtrip flights between its main hub in Phoenix and Medford, Ore. on Oct. 1, 2002; flights to/from Billings, Mont.; Calgary, Canada; and Pittsburgh will begin Oct. 27; and service at Washington Dulles International Airport will begin on Dec. 1, 2002. The airline will also provide service between its Las Vegas hub and Washington Dulles International Airport beginning Dec. 26, 2002.

"America West is initiating service in five markets that do not have significant low-fare competition. We expect our new fare structure, with no Saturday night stay and lower business fares, to be particularly attractive to customers in these historically high-fare markets," said Scott Kirby, executive vice president, sales and marketing.

Customers in these new markets have the opportunity to connect to dozens of destinations across the United States, Canada and Mexico where America West serves 88 destinations.

Flights to/from Pittsburgh, Washington/Dulles and Calgary will be provided by America West Airlines utilizing Airbus A319 aircraft which feature seating for 12 in First Class and 112 in the main cabin. Flights between Phoenix and Medford and Billings will be provided by America West Express, which is operated by Mesa Air Group, and will utilize the popular 50-seat regional jet.
