3DO Ships Shifters for PlayStation 2
June 17 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- The 3DO Company today announced that it has shipped Shifters, a massive third-person combat-oriented adventure game that breaks traditional gameplay boundaries by allowing players to shapeshift into 24 different creatures, each with specific abilities. Each play session is a fresh experience because the course of the game is changed based on which forms the player selects each time. Shifters was designed exclusively for the PlayStation 2 computer entertainment system.
In Shifters, the once peaceful kingdom of Bylandria is now under siege by the nefarious tyrant, the Grand Inquisitor Zash Mythra. The prize he seeks lies within Bylandria: a dangerous artifact that can cause chaos throughout the land. Gamers play the role of the shapeshifting hero, Alleron, who has been tasked by King Abelard to protect the kingdom and its prize.
Shifters Features Include:
- Shapeshifting: Shapeshift into as many as 6 different creature classes and over 24 unique transformations. Different forms provide different powers and abilities, such as bypassing traps, monsters, or even puzzle-driven events.
- Diverse Environments and Next Generation Graphics: Advanced layering and lighting for exquisite environmental and creature detail in three vastly different worlds -- Medieval, Arabian and Steampunk.
- In-depth Character Development: Includes combat training, spellcasting, and armor changes.
- Simple and Intuitive Interface: Interface allows players of all skill levels to easily explore the world and embark on adventure.
- Over 30 Formidable Creatures: Each creature is extremely detailed in design, skeletal animation and comprehensive artificial intelligence.
