 The Tailgater by Dish Network

What makes the perfect tailgating party? Burgers, chips, some adult beverages…sounds good, right? Make it even better by adding live satellite TV with the new Tailgater by DISH Network.

Easy to use, the Tailgater connects to a small DISH Network set-top box and TV. Once connected, simply follow the on-screen instructions and it will automatically locate the satellite positions for you – in just minutes you'll be viewing your favorite channels in high definition from the back of your truck. When you're done, simply power down the Tailgater and receiver, disconnect the cables, and take your system with you.

The Tailgater weighs only 10 pounds and is one of the lowest-priced portable satellite antennas on the market. It costs $350 and works with DISH Network's ViP 211k (MSRP: $149) single-tuner HD receiver. A variety of programming packages are available and DISH even offers month-to-month programming – allowing you to only pay for the months you use. Current DISH Network customers can even use their existing account to service the Tailgater system (an additional outlet fee may apply). Read more

After an excruciating four months, most of us have put aside our lockout gripes and embraced the upcoming NFL season with the usual body-painted passion. Good news for a worried league, but will a fickle stock market and a sluggish job outlook still keep some folks tuned out? Tickets prices will remain largely static, but optimizing your viewing experience (both at home, or in the stadium) can still run you a pretty penny. To help you weed out the best bets, here are eight gadgets that should get you the most bang for your buck:

1. Binoculars: A must-have for any pigskin aficionado worth his or her salt, these come in especially handy for those stranded in the cheap seats. Don't miss a single play with a Bushnell H20, available at Amazon.com. There are cheaper models out there, but this waterproof and fogproof pair will lockout moisture and make sure you catch all the action, no matter the weather. [$72 or less]

President Barack Obama Super Bowl XLIII logo

Earlier this week, George W. Bush’s second term as the 43rd President ended. At that precise moment, Barack Obama became the United States’ 44th President. With his inauguration ceremony, the country closed the second chapter of what is arguably a dynasty and welcomed in a relative newcomer to the country’s highest office. In addition to being a political neophyte in many ways, Barack Obama is also the first Black American to assume the presidency. Both the media and the minority community lauded this fact as not only a point of pride, but also as proof of the opportunity in America.
