ZipZaps Micro RCs Are Back With New X2 Products
April 21 /PRNewswire/ -- RadioShack Corporation just unveiled ZipZaps micro RC cars and accessories themed after X2, the upcoming sequel to the Hollywood blockbuster X-Men from 20th Century Fox. X2 products are the latest collectible additions to the popular line of ZipZaps micro RCs that were launched by RadioShack last year and took the 2002 holiday season by storm.
"Not only do consumers get to test-drive the new Mazda RX-8 (ZipZaps) that is driven by Wolverine in the movie, but a variety of accessories and upgrades really bring the X-Men experience to life," said Don Carroll, senior vice president and general manager, Connecting Things, RadioShack. "This deep X2 product portfolio represents our commitment to tie in with the most exciting automotive and entertainment properties of 2003."
The X2 ZipZaps collection is headlined by Mazda RX-8 X-Men Starter Kits, modeled after the actual car featured in the hit movie. Special packaging features Wolverine and Cyclops characters from the film and both starter kits include exclusively designed blue and chrome charger/controllers with accompanying wrist straps. Each starter kit comes equipped with a handy screwdriver and X2 holographic collector trading card. X2 starter kits are priced at $19.99 each.
Limited-edition X2 Collector's Packs allow ZipZaps fans to upgrade their Mazda RX-8 starter kits with a chromed car top. These upgrade kits are sold at $12.99 each and include four holographic collector trading cards featuring popular X-Men characters -- Wolverine, Cyclops, Mystique and Storm.
To ensure a smooth ride, ZipZaps motorists will need the X2 Multi-Tool as part of their collection. This all-in-one accessory includes screwdriver, magnifying glass, cleaning brush and flashlight. Sold at $6.99, the X2 Multi- Tool comes with a convenient keychain clip, so users are always ready for a quick upgrade.
Rounding out the star-studded line-up is the X2 Garage & Carrying Case that allows users to take the ZipZaps adventure on the road. The sleek carrying case holds four ZipZaps cars, charger/controller and lots of accessories, including the X2 Multi-Tool. It also doubles as a test-driving surface with the ramps that can be attached to the opened case. Young mechanics can further personalize their X2 Garage with included movie-inspired stickers. The X2 Garage & Carrying Case retails at RadioShack stores for $12.99.
ZipZaps are the premiere line of micro RCs that were launched by RadioShack in 2002 and have been flying off the store shelves ever since, with rave reviews from the media and consumers. The pocket-sized ZipZaps deliver non-stop racing action with the ability to fine-tune each car with customizable motors, gears, suspensions, tires and hubcaps. The micro racers have realistic body styles, charge in less than a minute and move with great precision, speed and dexterity. Each ZipZaps starter kit features a trading card and for serious collectors, a ZipZaps Trading Card Collector Book that can hold up to forty trading cards is also available. Making room for the 2003 line, select models and accessories from the inaugural line of ZipZaps will no longer be offered after inventory sells out. Collectors should also stock up on the latest X2 products, since they'll be sold out just in time for the arrival of the next exciting ZipZaps line-up based on the cars in the highly-anticipated Hollywood sequel, 2 Fast 2 Furious.
ZipZaps are sold exclusively at RadioShack stores nationwide. Additional information, including a virtual showroom, tuning tips and screensaver downloads can be found at www.zipzaps.com .
