VTech Debuts Learning Adventures Series at Toy Fair

Engaging Role-Play Toys Incorporate Breakthrough Recognition TechnologyFeb. 12 /PRNewswire/ -- Parents and teachers agree that stimulating the imagination and encouraging role-play is a very important aspect of a child's development. In 2002, VTech will take role-playing to a different level with The Learning Adventures Series, a product line that uses charming characters and unique recognition technology to encourage children ages 3 and up to tap into their imagination to touch, feel and create their own learning adventure.

"Research shows that children at this age level tire quickly of toys with the same play patterns, making it important to set-up a scenario for them to lead their own role playing adventure that can be different each time," said Jeff Rogers, vice president of marketing, VTech Industries, LLC. "VTech's Learning Adventures Series product line applies unique recognition technology to customize the learning experience through a series of questions and character reactions. This creates a rewarding experience that is unique, fun and educational."

Each of the five revolutionary new products in the line blends response technology, learning curricula, three-dimensional imagery and friendly character coaches.

Knights of Knowledge (for ages 5 and up) is a unique and enchanting three-dimensional learning castle featuring a group of magical characters -- Sir-Counts-A-Lot, King Ed Word and Lady Logic -- that "coach" children as they engage in spelling, reading, math and logic activities.

Children ages 3 and up can hammer, saw and magically "build" and "fix" their own creations with Smarty's Workshop. Smarty moves, talks and even dances as he helps children build simple projects step-by-step. Through unique technology, each twist of the screwdriver and whack of the hammer is recognized and children can see their creations build on the LCD screen.

The Dr. Feelfine Care Center is a magical place where children can care for animals and "diagnose" their problems. The care center introduces Dr. Feelfine who moves, talks and helps guide children with step-by-step instructions to care for their plush puppy "patient". The Dr. Feelfine Center includes six healing instrument buttons, an electronic measuring stick, a weight scale, the five senses station, a grooming station and a "waiting room" with 10 different animals.

For more than 25 years, VTech has been developing Forward Thinking products for children from birth to preteen that ignite imaginations, foster creativity and help children learn while having fun. VTech's products revolutionize the way children play and learn by using unique applications of breakthrough technology in age-appropriate formats. When kids can't tell where fun ends and learning begins. Learning begins!

VTech will be unveiling its technological breakthroughs at the American International Toy Fair 2002 in New York City (February 10 - 14). Suite #1452 in the International Toy Building (200 Fifth Avenue).
