Stroller Strides and BOB Team Up to Offer Exercise Program for New Parents

September 2004 - BOB, producers of the Sport Utility Stroller and the Ironman Sport Utility Stroller, are pleased to announce a new licensing agreement with Stroller Strides, a nationwide stroller exercise program. The deal is the first of its kind, and will offer consumers the opportunity to simultaneously purchase a customized Stroller Strides Fitness Stroller (manufactured by BOB) that includes exercise tubing and a Stroller Strides exercise routine.

The new, bright red stroller will display the Stroller Strides name and logo, and will be sold with an instructional exercise booklet that provides step-by-step instructions for the exercises along with exercise tubing – thus, emulating the total body workout that is provided in an actual Stroller Strides class. The new Stroller Strides Fitness Stroller will be available in January ‘05 through baby stores and sporting goods retailers nationwide, and on the Stroller Strides website – www.strollerstrides.com.

“We’re proud to put our name on this stroller,” said Stroller Strides founder and fitness expert Lisa Druxman. “We feel strongly that BOB is the best stroller manufacturer on the market. We’ve tested a lot of different strollers, and BOB is the most durable, easy to push and comfortable for the baby.”

BOB is also enthusiastic about the collaboration. “This licensing agreement is a synergistic opportunity for all involved and we’re excited to collaborate with Stroller Strides on this new product concept. We feel strongly it will open new markets for both parties,” he continued. “Our stroller is a natural fit for participants of the Stroller Strides program – or anyone who can’t get to a class or the gym – since its durable, sturdy, and performance-oriented.”

Noller went on to say that the Stroller Strides Fitness Stroller expands the use of conventional strollers in a positive way. “This program effectively underlines the importance of making time for exercising, and also turns exercise time into family time,” he said.

Stroller Strides classes are offered throughout the U.S., and have an estimated 6,000 participants nationwide. The group fitness classes tout the benefit of exercising with both stroller and baby, providing a total body workout that combines cardiovascular fitness, strength and flexibility. Druxman invented the Stroller Strides concept in 2001, shortly after the birth of her first son, when she discovered how challenging it was for a new mom to find time to exercise. The new Stroller Strides Fitness Stroller is designed for children from 6 months up to 70 lbs., and features a 12” rotating front wheel for easy maneuverability (the wheel also locks when straight tracking is desired, for jogging or rigorous exercise). Safety features on the stroller include a parking break; an adjustable, color-coded 5-point safety harness; and a large, protective sun canopy. The stroller also has kid-friendly features such as a shock absorber to take the bounce out of the ride, a wide reclining padded seat and lots of storage space for toys and snacks. The stroller is easy to fold and fits into the trunk of even the smallest compact car.
