Pressman Toy Introduces First-Ever Non-Trivia, Interactive DVD Board Game
September 1, 2004 - Fast, frightening and fun, Pressman Toy Corporation's new Atmosfear is a DVD board game of skill, strategy and suspense wrapped up in a race against time. Combining traditional game play with the latest in home entertainment technology, Atmosfear features cinema-quality production, special effects and surround sound for a totally immersive experience. Atmosfear will retail for $39.99 and will be available nationwide this fall.
"Pressman has long been an innovator in the toy industry and with Atmosfear, we leverage the immense popularity of DVDs to deliver a truly unique game," said Jim Pressman, president and CEO. "With a proprietary code that ensures no two games will ever be played the same, as well as the cinema-quality sound and special effects, Atmosfear is sure to be a hit with consumers this Fall and Holiday season."
In the game, players interact with an on-screen host and use the DVD remote control to make onscreen menu selections creating a new game experience every time they play. Players have 49 minutes to collect 6 keys and make their way to the center of the board to face their greatest fear. There is just one problem: The DVD character, The Gatekeeper, who is going to cause a world of trouble. The Gatekeeper is out to win the game himself.
"Since its debut as a VHS game in 1995 Atmosfear has gained a cult following," said Pressman. "As such, we expect these loyal fans to spread the word via the World Wide Web, resulting in high anticipation even before the game's release."
Atmosfear has true random DVD programming that ensures infinite play possibilities. It has been produced using state-of-the-art special effects software and technologies for stunning 3D visuals. The game includes the Atmosfear DVD, a large playing board, 37 keys, 6 character cards, 2 dice, pencil and paper, 156 cards, 6 color movers and the Well of Fears. Atmosfear is for 3-6 players, ages 12 to adult. Atmosfear was developed by the multimedia company Forest Interactive, a division of Yoram Gross-EM.TV in Australia, and is based on the original Atmosfear game created by A Couple 'A Cowboys.
