New Line of Children's Scales Help Parents Monitor Healthy Growth
December 2003 -- Health o meter, the original bath scale brand invented in 1919, is raising the bar on health monitoring solutions with the introduction of Health o meter for Kids. The new line of scales are designed to help parents keep track of their child's height, weight, and shoe size. Known and trusted by parents as "The Doctor's Scale," the Health o meter group is bringing its accurate and innovative technology to a new line, providing reliable and effective tools for monitoring children's growth.
"Health o meter for Kids is a consumer-friendly brand extension that encourages healthy growth and development," said Jennifer Hansard, Health o meter director of marketing. "We have succeeded in launching a product line that parents trust as reliable and accurate while providing the fun element so critical for kids."
The new kid-friendly Health o meter for Kids line includes an assortment of four kids dial scales and one baby/toddler scale. The creatively designed dial scales come in four distinct patterns, including teddy bear picnic, sea creature, jungle animal and a colorful foot pattern. The baby/toddler scale adapts to the child's growth, converting from a two-piece tabletop tray model to a unique bear-shaped floor scale that the baby can stand on.
The kids dial scales, which encourage parents to track their children's growth by adding a bit of fun to the experience, feature easy to read numbers on a rotating dial and measure weight accurately up to 150 pounds. The first scale to be released combines three important milestones parents can track in their children's growth: height, weight and shoe size. Available at Wal-Mart stores, the scale has patterns of feet on the surface, allowing the children to measure their shoe size and track their height when they step on the scale. A "Healthy Growth Chart" that parents can hang on the wall is included with each scale. The three remaining kids' scales will launch this winter with each scale priced at $19.99.
The versatile baby/toddler scale, which features an innovative design that converts from a tray model to a standard floor model, will be available winter 2004. During the first year of life, a baby's weight is expected to double, making healthy measurement tools a necessity. The scale has a large, easy to read 1.2" LCD front-facing display that gives measurements up to 60 lbs. Because of the need for complete accuracy, readings are visible in increments of ½ ounce. The readings are consistent and precise with an advanced calibration mechanism allowing parents to "zero-out" the weight of clothing, or a diaper. Each baby/toddler scale also includes a "Healthy Growth Baby Book" with reference charts from the Centers for Disease Control (CDC), which sets standard ranges for each phase of a child's growth. The baby toddler scale is priced at $129.99 and is powered by a replaceable 9V battery.
