New Digital Blue Smart Toys Ready for Holidays

Oct. 9 /PRNewswire/ -- A new line of award-winning toys hits the shelves this month to help parents lure kids away from video games. Prime Entertainment's new Digital Blue smart toys offer dazzling technology, but encourage creativity and hands-on fun. The line features the Oppenheim-award-winning Digital Movie Creator, the QX3 Computer Microscope, and the PC Animation Station.

"Digital Blue is the antidote to videogames," said Tim Hall, President and CEO of Prime Entertainment. "Our technology is cutting-edge, but we get kids to unhook from a TV screen to play in the real world."

Digital Blue is the new brand launched by Prime Entertainment, Inc., a privately-held company based in Atlanta. The technology for these products was developed by the Intel Corporation, and acquired by Prime Entertainment earlier this year. Prime is expanding its line of high-tech toys in 2003.

The Digital Movie Creator turns kids as young as 8 into budding filmmakers. A sleek, sturdy blue camera captures up to 4 minutes of digital video and audio away from the PC. In a snap, images are downloaded via a USB port. Next, kids use the award-winning software to easily edit scenes, add music, special effects, end credits and more. It's everything they need to shoot, star-in and produce a full-length movie.

The Digital Movie Creator recently won the 2003 Oppenheim Toy Portfolio Platinum Award for computer software. It has been featured on numerous ' best toy' lists, including Time Magazine, Entertainment Weekly, the Today Show and Live with Regis & Kelly. Other Digital Blue products have been named to best toy lists in publications ranging from Time Magazine to Family PC to Popular Science to Better Homes & Garden.

The camera features 320 x 240 resolution video and sound. It can also take and store hundreds of digital still shots. Requires PC with 300MHz or faster processor; suggested retail: $100.

QX3 Computer Microscope
Now kids can bring microscopic images to life on their PC. The QX3 features real microscope optics, and displays any magnified image on the child's computer screen. The software lets kids record video of their tiny discoveries, then edit the footage with music and special effects. Bigger- than-life microscopic movies are great for fun or schoolwork. Insects and organisms never looked so amazing! Ages 8 and up.

Requires PC with 200MHz or faster processor; suggested retail $70.

PC Animation Station
The PC Animation Station lets boys and girls make their favorite cartoon characters talk. A cool-looking digital recording device lets kids capture conversations and sound in real life, and then download to a PC. The software lets them edit, change phrases around, and add wild sound effects. The ultimate result comes when the kids choose a cartoon image on the computer screen. The character's facial gestures simulate speech while the recorded dialogue appears to come from its mouth!

Requires PC with 200MHz or faster processor; suggested retail $30.

Said Bill Uzell, Prime Entertainment's Executive Vice President of Sales: "Retailers are very enthusiastic about Digital Blue. They know the vast majority of their shoppers own a PC, but want their kids to use it for more than just videogames. We're building a whole new category behind products that bring more of a hands-on experience to the PC."

A TV advertising campaign for Digital Blue products begins November 1 and continues throughout the holiday season, with commercials on Nickelodeon and Cartoon Network among other outlets.
