Verbatim Celebrates 40 Years of Data Storage Innovation

 Verbatim 40 Years logo

This year, Verbatim (Latin for "literally") celebrates 40 years of enhancing the digital lifestyle of consumers, businesses and professionals with data storage innovation.

Since its founding in 1969, the company has been at the forefront in the development of data storage technology – from floppy disks and magneto-optical storage media to the CD and DVD formats and the latest high-definition Blu-ray Disc (BD) media.

In the early years, the company joined industry leaders such as IBM in rolling out the 8-inch floppy diskette, Shugart in announcing the 5.25-inch floppy diskette and Sony in introducing the 3.5" micro diskette (1MB). Focused on increasing its share of the rapidly growing floppy disk market, Verbatim continued to pioneer advancements such as the launch of its high-density 1.6MB mini diskette, its 2MB micro diskette and the DatalifePlus® (Teflon-protected) diskette and soon became the world's largest producer of floppy disks. Stay Ahead of the Tech Curve

Most people these days have houses full of digital gadgets and machines. From computers and laptops to mp3 players, televisions and gaming systems, Americans have a penchant for staying on the front edge of personal technology.

However, technology continues to move at a dizzying pace making products faster, smaller, more integrated and more efficient. To stay ahead of the curve, take a look at these product ideas given to us from Personal Tech Experts at BluePhone:

 Eee PC 1000 Series

Mini Laptop - With enough processing power for most any kind of everyday use, and a small enough form factor to fit in many purses, mini laptops with screens from about seven to ten inches are a great option for people on the go, or looking for an ultra-sleek laptop computer. ASUS has been making the EEE-PC for a few years now, but has been making improvements that make them more and more viable as a true computer. Dell makes the Inspiron Mini 9, which has about the same form-factor as the EEE-PC, but comes backed by the well known Dell name. Neither one will hit the wallet very hard – both are about $300.Read more

Free Up Your Hard Drive, Share Content with Verbatim's New Gigabit NAS Devices

 Verbatim Gigabit NAS hard drive

If you are like me and have tons of digital photos, videos and music taking up valuable space on your computer’s hard drive, you might want to consider the latest offering from Verbatim – their new Gigabit NAS desktop hard drives which hold up to 2TB of content! And with Gigabit Ethernet connectivity for file sharing, you will be able to free up space on your computer all while sharing your content between any PC or Mac on your home network.

Verbatim Gigabit NAS hard drives can also be used as a home entertainment server to stream movies to your TV through their UPnP/DLNA media player or stream music to any computer running iTunes. And for additional savings, instead of purchasing a printer for each computer, a single USB printer can be added to the drive’s USB host port that everyone on the network can use.

For easy network setup, Verbatim Gigabit NAS hard drives support Samba (for PCs) and Bonjour (for Macs) protocols. Worried about security? No need. Private folders with user access rights can be established for individual users. Also, Nero BackItUp 4 Essentials for Windows systems is included for automatic backup of all your computers.

Verbatim’s new Desktop Gigabit NAS Hard Drives will be available at the end of March in 1TB and 2TB. The suggested retail pricing of the 1TB drive will be $229.99.
