If you visit BestStuff.com very often, you know we are fans of Epson’s gear. So you can imagine our delight when we heard about the company’s first line of 2D and 3D Full HD 1080p home theater projectors. Announced today at CEDIA, the PowerLite Pro Cinema 6010, Home Cinema 5010/5010e and Home Cinema 3010/3010e were built with features to please both home cinema enthusiasts and custom installers. And one of the best things about these projectors? They start in price at under $1,600.
Epson’s new projectors feature full HD 1080p resolution, active shutter 3D, and Bright 3D Drive Technology for incredible 3D viewing at home. They offer up to 2,400 lumens of color and white light output, wireless installation options, and have a split screen mode for viewing two pictures at once or watching TV and using the Internet at the same time.
The top-of-the-line PowerLite Pro Cinema 6010 delivers both 2D and 3D and features 1080p native resolution, a contrast ratio of up to 200,000:1, and brightness of up to 2,400 lumens. This 3LCD projector comes packed with state-of-the-art features including virtual 480 Hz drive technology for enhanced light output in 3D mode, cinema filter for improved color fidelity, THX certification, and the new Spilt Screen mode for watching two sources at once. The Pro Cinema 6010 also comes with an extra lamp, a ceiling mount and a cable cover.
The highest priced of the group; the Pro Cinema 6010 will be available for less than $4,000 when it becomes available in November. Two pairs of 3D glasses are included.
The mid-range PowerLite Home Cinema 5010 and 5010e deliver beautiful 3D and 2D images. Featuring 1080p native resolution, contrast ratio of up to 200,000:1 and brightness of up to 2,400 lumens, these bright 3LCD projectors are perfect for viewing on large screens and in ambient light conditions. 3D Drive Technology brightens the image by doubling the image refresh rate from 240Hz to 480Hz, and the cinema filter improves color fidelity. The 5010/5010e also includes the new Spilt Screen mode.
Also available in November, the Home Cinema 5010 (wired) will be priced under $2,999 and the Home Cinema 5010e (wireless) will hold a price tag of under $3,499. 3D glasses are sold separately for both models.
And now for the least expensive of the bunch. The new PowerLite Home Cinema 3010 may be the most affordable, but don’t let that fool you. These 3LCD projectors still deliver outstanding 3D and 2D images with features including 1080p native resolution, a contrast ratio of up to 40,000:1, brightness of up to 2,200 lumens (the highest in their class!) and built-in speakers. And, yes, these also include the new Split Screen mode for watching two sources at once.
The Epson Home Cinema 3010 (wired) will be priced at $1,599 and the wireless model, the Home Cinema 3010e will be $1,799. Two pairs of 3D glasses are included with Home Cinema 3010; 3D glasses sold separately for Home Cinema 3010e.

INDIANAPOLIS (CEDIA Expo 2011, Booth 3751) – Sept. 8, 2011 – Epson America today announced its first line of 2D and 3D Full HD 1080p home theater projectors with the new 3LCD™ PowerLite® Pro Cinema 6010, and Home Cinema 5010/5010e and 3010/3010e. Epson’s new line offers a range of value-add features and performance at varying price levels to accommodate virtually all home cinema projection needs, including an entry-level solution available for less than $1,600.
As the number-one selling projector brand worldwide[i], Epson utilizes full HD, active shutter 3D, with 1080p resolution and Bright 3D Drive Technology, which drives the panels at 480Hz, essentially doubling the image refresh rate of 240Hz panels, delivering ultra-bright images and reduced crosstalk for the ultimate in 3D viewing at home. These projectors offer high brightness – up to 2,400 lumens of color and white light output[ii] – and enable viewing on larger screens and in a range of ambient light conditions. Combined with remarkable contrast and a number of value-add features, including wireless installation options and split screen mode for watching two pictures at once or watching TV and using the Internet at the same time, the Pro Cinema 6010, and Home Cinema 5010/5010e and 3010/3010e deliver top 3D and 2D performance and image quality in each of their respective categories.
“A large issue with 3D projection at home is the loss of brightness in image and picture quality,” said Jason Palmer, marketing manager, Epson America. “With the 480 Hz drive technology developed by Epson, we’ve been able to create a bright, crisp image for home users to truly enjoy the 3D experience. Coupled with exceptional 2D quality viewing, these new projectors are an outstanding choice for any home cinema.”
