Sony EyeToy Makes it Real
Sony has introduced a first-of-its-kind product, EyeToy, a USB camera that uses motion-tracking technology to project player images on-screen. With this technology, the capabilities of the PlayStation 2 entertainment experience are greatly enhanced by capturing the player’s body movements and instantaneously transforming these images into on-screen interaction.
Bundled with the EyeToy are 12 mini-games that all require to you to move your body and flail your limbs around in the name of entertainment. Titles include Wishi Washi (clean windows by waving your palms around), Kung Foo (take out multiple ninja enemies with your best martial arts moves), Beat Freak (Dancing Stage - for arms!) and Keep Ups (keep a virtual football in the air using only your head).
EyeToy is scheduled to release in October for a suggested retail price of $39. www.playstation.com
