May 12 /PRNewswire/ -- On May 11, Sony Computer Entertainment America (SCEA) created the ultimate Los Angeles destination in celebration of this year's Electronic Entertainment Expo (E3) conference with David Arquette, Tara Reid and numerous others experiencing the PlayStation 2 Underworld. PlayStation 2, the undisputed leader in the gaming industry, transformed the historic Belasco Theater into a futuristic universe that took guests on an invigorating journey through a world ruled by PlayStation 2 with a special musical performance by rock and roll legend Iggy Pop.

Allowing Hollywood's A-list to "play in their world," PlayStation 2 hosted the hottest party in downtown Los Angeles that redefined the realm of interactive entertainment by fusing technology with creative vision. The invite-only affair offered celebrities, including Jared Leto, Eve and Johnny Knoxville, the chance to enter into a completely different dimension of entertainment. Daryl Hannah experienced driving excitement as she cruised through Gran Turismo 4, set to launch fall 2004, while suspended over the crowd in a spaceship-like clear orb. Jamie Kennedy tested his gaming ability going head-to-head with a friend playing Killzone, set to launch fall 2004, while perched on a turntable console where he could keep track of his opponent's every move with gameplay projected around the room. Later, the party focused center stage for Iggy Pop's performance where Red Hot Chili Peppers frontman Anthony Kiedis hopped on stage to join Iggy in a few songs. The eclectic trio, Yeah Yeah Yeahs also performed. Spinning by hip-hop's hottest DJ Danger Mouse completed the entertainment filled evening. This rounds out PlayStation 2's impressive history of musical line-ups such as 50 Cent, Busta Rhymes, Jane's Addiction, Alicia Keys and OutKast.

The star-studded party comes on the heels of Sony Computer Entertainment America Inc.'s world debut of the PlayStation Portable (PSP) -- the company's first foray into portable entertainment. Available in late 2004, the PlayStation Portable will allow consumers to enjoy gaming and other entertainment content anywhere, anytime.
