August 6, 2008—CyberLink Corp., innovative solution provider for the connected digital lifestyle, today announced its collaboration with Samsung Electronics to combine CyberLink MediaShow 4, the all-in-one digital photo and video organizer, with Samsung’s new flash memory camcorder , Samsung MX20. The cooperation gives users a fast and easy way to organize and share their video and photo content, including H.264 files.

MediaShow 4 automatically finds and imports videos and images on connected digital cameras and DV camcorders, enabling users to quickly create and organize their media library. Supporting BMP, JPEG, and PNG for images and video format DV-AVI, MPEG-1, MPEG-2, DVR-MS, WMV, as well as H.264; MediaShow 4 allows users to easily import, edit, and produce H.264 video captured on the Samsung MX20 Camcorder, the first to apply H.264 codec to SD camcorders, and output content for playback on MP3 players and other portable multimedia devices supporting such format. Today’s new high-def camcorders, such as our new AVCHD camcorder, make it possible for almost anyone to shoot really professional looking footage. The problem for most of consumers is that they don’t take the very best of the content and convert it into an interesting movie people want to sit down and view.

For our family we wanted software that would give the technical experts in the family (our son, daughter) a comprehensive end-to-end editing solution and still lets the more video-challenged member of the family (ourselves) produce something people would sit down and view.

With Toshiba finally leaving the next generation DVD battlefield and moving on to more profitable ventures such as solid state and hard drive storage, we can safely purchase a new computer with a blu-ray disc (BD) burner/player.

The challenge though comes in finding software that will provide superior BD high definition playback as well as the ability to produce video content people will want to watch on the new high capacity (25GB single sided) discs.

In our search of the internet we were able to find only one software package that would support both writing and playback of BD-Video – CyberLink’s DVD Suite 6 Ultra.

Simply finding a package that will let you take advantage of some of the new BD movie features such as the picture-in-picture and video commentaries is good. But being able to produce your own BD movies is a big plus since we can now do videos with our own interactive content. Read more
