Mobility Electronics Debuts Next Generation of iGo 'Pitch'
March 17 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- Mobility Electronics today introduced Pitch Duo, the next generation of its popular Pitch presentation family and the first wireless presentation solution for handhelds and smartphones. Mobility Electronics will be showcasing Pitch Duo's capabilities with the Palm Tungsten T handheld in the Palm Partner Pavilion at CTIA Wireless 2003 this week in New Orleans.
"We have received a good response to Pitch Solo and Pitch for Palm, the first versions of this emerging product category," said Charlie Mollo, Chief Executive Officer of Mobility Electronics. "Pitch Duo provides additional functionality that will appeal to an even larger segment of mobile professionals."
Pitch Duo is the first device of its kind to allow users to fully utilize the Bluetooth port of their handheld or smartphone to give notebook-quality presentations without wires or cables. This wireless capability allows the presenter complete freedom from being tied to the location of the projector or display device. Also, devices without cable connectivity, such as cellular phones, can take advantage of the capabilities of Pitch Duo using Bluetooth wireless technology. The product is compatible with most handhelds or smartphones running Palm OS 4.0 and later and other popular handheld operating systems.
Users simply synchronize their presentation from their computer to their handheld or smartphone using the supplied software before they leave their office. Once on location and ready to present, they simply connect Pitch Duo to a video projector or monitor and start the presentation from their device, connecting and communicating with Pitch Duo using Bluetooth wireless technology. Without wires tethering them to a projector or monitor, the presenter can roam the room giving and controlling their presentation from their handheld or smartphone. With the accompanying Quickpoint software, users can also view their presentation notes or any one of three other views -- full slide, outline, or thumbnail on their device, while their audience sees only the slide show.
Product features include:
-- 1024x768 color presentations, supporting VGA, sVGA, XGA
-- Hide, un-hide and re-order slides
-- Continuous looping of selected slide show
-- Leaves the expansion card slot free for storage of multiple
presentations or other important data
-- Remote slide show control via Bluetooth or infrared using advance,
reverse, skip-around commands
-- iDisplay for showing the live screen of the handheld or smartphone on
a display device
-- Quickoffice Pro complete Office suite
-- Annotation, using Quickpoint
-- Creation and editing of slide notes for PowerPoint using Quickpoint
-- Pentium-class processor for fast slide transitions
-- 2 PS/2 ports for connecting a keyboard and mouse, allowing text and
pointer input
-- Charging for applicable devices when used with the USB sync/charging
cable
In addition, the product includes a travel case, which safely and compactly carries the Pitch Duo unit and power supply.
"This is an important evolution of our Pitch product family-fully utilizing the built-in Bluetooth functionality of many devices to eliminate the need for laptops and for entangled wires, when presenting on the road," said Holmes Lundt, executive vice president, handheld business for Mobility Electronics. "With complementary software offerings from Mobility Electronics, including Quickpoint, users are able to edit and work on the files they bring with them. Put together, it's a comprehensive product set for mobile users who need all the technology tools but want to travel light."
"CTIA Wireless 2003 will be a showcase of the latest innovations and the products that will shape the market in the year ahead," said Pete Ellis, Business Development Manager, at Palm, Inc. "Pitch Duo and Palm's Tungsten T handheld are two examples of products that will generate excitement on the show floor and drive market share moving forward. Working with companies such as Mobility Electronics, Palm continues to move mobile computing to a world where handheld devices deliver as much functionality as a laptop, with all of the necessary productivity tools in a smaller, much more portable footprint."
Mollo added, "The handheld segment of our business represents tremendous market opportunities and is a key component of our success moving forward. Market data indicates millions of Bluetooth mobile devices in the market this year and Pitch Duo now supports them. Pitch Duo is another first-to-market product for the company, which should increase the revenue contribution from this product family in the quarters to come."
Pitch Duo will be available beginning in April through the Palm Store and iGo; pricing will begin at $279.99. For more information on the product, please visit www.igo.com or contact Brandy Lawson at Mobility Electronics at (208) 395-1300 ext. 240.
