Firefly Phone Voted Winning Wireless Widget by CTIA WIRELESS 2005 Attendees

March 17, 2005 - No hanging chads in this voting process! The attendees at CTIA WIRELESS 2005 have voted and the Firefly Phone from Firefly Mobile has been chosen the Winning Wireless Widget at this year's event. Steve Largent, President & CEO of CTIA, announced the winner from the Day 3 Keynote stage at CTIA WIRELESS 2005, the world's largest wireless trade event, currently being held at the Morial Convention Center is New Orleans, Louisiana. Fred Bullock accepted the award on behalf of Firefly Mobile.

"Congratulations are in order to Firefly Mobile for the simple yet innovative Firefly Phone," said Largent. "The Firefly phone is an innovative new communications tool that allows kids and their families and friends to stay in touch on a day-to-day basis. The Firefly phone addresses an underserved need by providing today's busy families with a way to stay in touch, and gives parents the control they require."

The Firefly phone was designed especially for kids ages 8-12 with the control parents require that "adult" mobile phones don't provide. It's small, durable and shaped to fit a younger hand. With kid-friendly buttons and simple features that allow parents to control all incoming and outgoing calls, it's the fun way to keep kids connected to the people who matter most in their life. Unlike security or emergency call devices that are only designed for occasional use, the Firefly phone is designed to meet the everyday needs of kids. Unlike toy phones, the Firefly phone was designed just for kids from the ground up, not based on adult phones.

The Firefly phone includes a variety of innovative features that provide parents with control, and kids with fun:

  • Just five keys, no keypad, to keep it simple for kids and provide parental controls of all calls:
    * "Mom" and "Dad" speed-dial keys
    * Phone Book where kids scroll through a parent-programmed, PIN-protected phone list with a 20-number capacity
    * Send call
    * End call
  • 911 button for emergency calls with accidental call prevention feature
  • Optional call screening
  • Caller ID
